So I shot a match today, with my new rifle, and my Magpul mags would not drop freely. Any tricks to help this? Some 180-grit sandpaper maybe?

That's the reason I went back to GI mags when I know there's going to be a mag change involved. You could try sandpaper and see if it works.

That happens with specific lowers...try some google and I bet you'll find instructions for where to take material off the mags.

My 20rd will fall out like my GI mags but it's been loaded MANY times, the 30rd haven't been in and out of the lower that much but I just cycle them in and out until they will drop with a push of the mag release button everytime. It might take a bit to wear them in but while your watching the tv run the mags in and out several times until they drop. I had a problem with mine going into the lower and locking last match, just need to remember they like to be handled rough LOL Later,

Make sure you have 30 and not 31 in your pmags. They will hold 31 and have a hard time seating. The last round in the mag should be on the right, not the left.

Ya might be right! I do have a problem with counting, I'm normally running my mouth bs'in while loading mags. Later,

Most don't count when they load their mags. I don't. I load them full and see if the round is on the right side or if I can press down any, if not I remove one.

I have an old Essential Arms Lower that is ugly as sin and well worn I think it is from the 80's. All the markings & letters on the lower are crooked. I never missed this lower until I had to do a quick mag change, GI mags slide in and out easily and the mag release is super smooth. After upgrading to a new lower I took the dremmel to the opening for the Mag release on the new lower that helped. I have often wondered if I should take the dremmel and polish the inside of the magwell of my new and much better looking lower. Mags do not hang but they do not slide right in either. :41:

I would do a whole lot of mag cycling, or hand sand with 600 grit to try to smooth it out before I would take a dremel to it.

I meant with a polishing wheel and compound not a grinding stone. This was my first impression when I put the lower together. Above ideas are simple and great.
Way to go Matt I need to get some sleep now I am busy comparing all three lowers Loki, PSA & the good old essential arms. Conclusion Loki has gotten smoother with use and the black is an exact match with my upper. The essential arms feeds mags the smoothest but mag rattles. I have 2 magpul and they drop freely in all three lowers. Good luck OP
