Hey folks, 57 year old UPS manager retiree...new to the forum. I will be 'looking around' to see what I can find out about PA10 quality before investing in a build from PSA. Howdy :D

I currently own a Del-ton carbine length Sierra 316 MOE in 5.56 with heavy barrel. I'm looking at the PA10 for something heavier with a more accurate SS barrel...maybe the 20 in. rifle/rifle length build. For the price, I doubt anyone can find a better AR...but Del-ton doesn't have the AR10 variant.

Welcome to the Forum!

Look around, you might be able to find some info on what you're asking about. If not, I'm sure there are some Forumers who can help you with your questions! ;)

Welcome to the fray!

Here's my PA10 build:

Now on to the good and the bad.

Good - price
Bad - proprietary LPK, trigger issues with aftermarket triggers, chambers not complete, takedown pin holes not to spec, etc. etc. etc.

Go here and start reading. There are some threads detailing the problems: http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_2/301_Palm ... rmory.html

I bought one of the first lowers available, as I'm a dealer for them. I paid a premium and got a low SN just like I wanted. I assembled the lower with their LPK with the ACT trigger, and added the PRS rifle stock and buffer extension. Then when the 18" SS upper came in stock I grabbed one, added my muzzle device and the rest of the little parts, and had the rifle coated even before I fired it. Finally got the Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24 in and got it mounted in ADM Recon mount, and went to zero it. No issues there. Gun fires great, but I was disappointed in the trigger. Ordered a Geissele with the flat bow trigger, can't remember the model, but I installed it and pulled CH back and locked the gun up tighter than dick's hatband. Had to beat the BCG back forward to release the hammer. The BCG was riding the hammer back and binding the gun up.

Contacted PSA, and they informed me of the issues with the Geissele triggers, but they had a plan to have the triggers modified. I wasn't prepared to cut on a $230 trigger so put it in another rifle, and ordered a POF EFP trigger and installed it. No issues.

Overall the gun is a performer. Shoots about 0.6" groups at 100 yards with federal gold medal match ammo, about 1" with bulk ammo, plenty good enough for me to hunt with.

Bottom line, if you're building a PSA rifle, be prepared for selecting parts that will work based on the reading you do on ARFCOM. If you use all PSA parts you should have no isssue, but don't try and mix and match parts and you'll be okay.
