a.k.a. bumble bee shot. I guess a revolver is your best option for 22 SS. Will that stuff even cycle in a semi? I wonder if you would have issues with the flared out crimp on the fired casings?

I have shot the rat shot with the blue plastic case on the end...that holds the shot. I have used my Ruger Mark II. The shot does not have the power to move the slide back. You have to load one round in the chamber, them, dig the casing out...

That is why I am looking for a revolver...

What's your price range? I know you said .22 but I personally got a Rossi Model 461 ( Blued ) .357 Magnum 6 shot revolver for this exact reason. They can be had fairly inexpensively. It may be a decent alternative if you can't find a .22. There's a review of the .22 CCI Shotshells on Youtube and the guy took the round apart and counted about 95 pellets ( whereby on the packaging it advertises around 165 ). The .38 has more room for more pellets and I've personally used it to dispatch snakes in the past.

Good luck with your search!

steve, if you ask me you will want as short a bbl as you can get. i have an H&R 9 shot 22 revolver with a 4 in bbl. i shoot rat shot with it at hornets when they come into the yard looking for sap at the roots of the white oaks. i have to be pretty close, about 3 ft from the muzzle. sometimes that doesnt just waste them.

i believe the rifleing is what messes up the power of rat shot. i have shot it in a rifle and the shot is about worthless after turning down a long bbl. but who makes a smooth bore 22 pistol.
