I started shooting competition this year.
Classified in Production but have shot Limited ever since.
Shooting 9mm in Minor.
I choose 9mm for less recoil to my hands and has not been a problem.
I have not shot a 40 but from what I read the nice ones have low recoil but I'm not sure about re-acquisition between shots.
Unless replies change my mind I am going to start looking for a Limited gun in 40.
I am finding lots of names who take certain frames and modify them for competition.
I don't know one from another.
I am asking for suggestions.
I know this is like asking a group of people which motor oil is the best, everyone has a different opinion, however I am interested in all.
To my knowledge I will be shooting USPSA/IPSC.
I think I want;
5 or 6 inch barrel
Low recoil
Hi capacity
Single Action
Pictures if you got em please.
Thanks,
Michael

PS, Moderator's, if this should be in a different section please move to appropriate location.
I searched all that I thought would apply and did not find this question.

I love my M&P 40 Pro - but my present to myself once I hit C class is one of those nice custom STI's - figured I have about a year to start saving LOL

Your criteria leads you towards a 2011.

Depends on how much you want to spend, the cheap route would be surfing enos or the USPSA classifieds and wait for a used Edge or Eagle to come up for sale. The more expensive route would be dropping a check off with a builder.

Either way budget another $450 or so for a set of magazines.

How much do you want to spend?

Good question, I know $3.5 to $5k stuff is out there.
I think I will spend what will buy what works best, dependable and durable.
I know that is not an answer but I typically start high and work down.

An STI Edge .40 is what i shoot and LOVE IT.

Prices vary from where you want to goto get it.

1400-2100 Depending on what you want/options you care.

about $435 for (4) Dawson Super-Tuned Mags http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000949-1223667407

Here is a link to the stock page for STI Edge: http://www.stiguns.com/guns/Edge/Edge.php

Hope this helps with your decision

Cheese & Crackers!
I did not know that.
Thanks

You could probably get set up with a used Eagle/Edge and 4 mags with quality parts for around $2K assuming you get into a gun for around $1500.

That's not counting a holster and pouches.

Thanks folks.
I have looked at STI's web and Dawson.
I like what they have.
What is the thinking on "Infinity" or "LimCat".
I found these Beauties!

This is beautifull,
Infinity Strayer Signature

Note, this is IPSC approved but not USPSA as of yet.
LimCat WildCat Perfect Sight

I have no idea what kind of money they are but is their any thoughts?
Don't say I'm crazy, I've already heard that one from my wife.

this is what it comes down to, you will shoot your limited gun A LOT, if you are doing compeitions, even if you do 3gun down the line some still do uspsa scoring, so you will run that, here is the deal, tell you wife you can either buy a cheaper gun shoot it for 6 months, then buy the gun you want, or just buy the gun you want now and be done with it. it is less money to just "buy once, cry once"... i am not a big fan of spending alot of money on guns that just "sit on the shelf" and maybe get 150 rounds a year put down them, but you will put thousands of rounds downrange per year with this gun.... buy what you want..

SVI makes the best wide frame gun in my opinion. You will wait 6 months to 1 year for it to be delivered and pay north of $3000. Log into their website and spec a gun out for yourself.

Limcats are very nice as well, I have no idea about costs or wait times.

Other builders:

Cyrwus
Matt Cheely
Dan Bedell
Derek Janewicz (not sure about spelling here)
Gary Natale
Virgil Tripp
Benny Hill
Jim Anglin
Bobby Keigans

The list goes on, you'll wait a few months to have any of these guys build your gun, costs will range between $2500 and $3500 depending on what you want.

Ask around to shoot other people's Limited guns, most shooters will gladly stick their gun in your hand with a full magazine and say "have at it."

My Limited blaster isn't as nice as a Benny Hill fat free but you're more than welcome to shoot it.

For a long time I said I took after my grandmother, saved everthing for a rainy day.
But now that my dad is old, I am realizing alot of the things he kept and never used is a waste, in my opinion.
So, I do shoot 3 gun and love it, this forum said, bring what you got and shoot it, so the Browning A-5 Light 12, that has sat for the better part of 30 years came out and I am going to use it till it quits. Someone told me I am to old to use it until it quits.
My point, I am at the age that I am going to use what ever I get.
I will gather some fishing gear, boat gear and maybe some guns to liquidate for new Limited Gun. While that is happening I will work on what I want.
Lots of choices.

You could also check with Kevin Toothman at USSA. Excellent guns plus he is local

Those makes are gonna cost you big dollars, in the neighborhood of $3,500.

Mike's 2011s are a lot less money for the same performance. No brainer.

Cyrwus built me this Caspian. Can't think of a single malf that wasn't shooter induced. Recoil with 180s loaded long isn't much more than my 9Pro if any.

Big props to Cyrwus. He built mine also, right around the time he built Hearn's. I wanted mine to look all business. Nothing fancy, nothing I didn't need. Matter of fact he gave it to me to shoot it in before it was "finished" (applying finish to the smaller parts like the safeties, etc.). It ran so fantastic, I refused to give it back (much to his displeasure). It ran flawlessly during that period (still does), and I couldnt bear to part with it for another week or two. It's MY gun, that fits me, runs like a scalded dog, looks like I wanted it to, and I love it.

I can't think of a single malfunction I've had with that gun.
