Other people read public forums, however, and they deserve to get sound, detailed advice. They deserve to be aware of the legal consequences for decisions they make. There are a lot of misconceptions about how castle doctrine works.

You may have a great camera system, floodlights, gen 3 NVGs, perimeter intrusion alarms, trained dogs, tons of live fire training at night with no illum, and all sorts of other gucci Tier 1 STANO equipment to PID everything on your property. Or, you may simply not care about the legal concerns associated with target identification. Most folks don't have all that gucci Tier 1 stuff and they do care about legal repercussions, and so for 95% of folks, a white weapon light is an excellent option.

But again, I don't care what's on your guns. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg if you have a rough time with the legal system because you don't care about target identification. Others lurking on the forum deserve to be aware of the risks on both side and make their own choices.
