I'm a lefty but lately I've been playing with a right hand ejecting AR upper on my Stag Lower and I'm wondering if this is the way to go. I follow the MagPul method of getting the gun up in my workspace when doing reloads, clearing malfunctions, etc. It seems a little easier since it puts the ejection port right in my face when I rotate the carbine. With the brass deflectors, unless I'm prone the ejection pattern doesn't seem to bother me.

This doesn't work as well with my 870 – I like the LH model there. If I go to an auto, I don't know yet. I'm thinking of an M3, so that I have both capabilities, but again, I don't know what I don't know.

YES!
its totally the way to go.

if I were a righty, Id go find myself a LH M1 or M2 benelli and probably a stag lefty AR.

I had a stag LH upper about 5-6 years ago. I realized what you are starting to discover.

right handed guns are set up great for lefties. have you tried a mossberg shotgun? controls are pretty nice for a lefty.

I'm assuming that you still have an ambi mag release on the AR? I tried the Norgen and the Troy and find the Troy to be so much easier to manipulate. Time to start looking for another upper I guess.

Thanks, Mike. I deem to remember something similar from the illustrious Mike Pinto at a match.

Haven't looked at the Mossberg because I've been thinking of the Benelli M3 (I do use some low power stuff occasionally, and I really like my 870). I might also look at an M1 if I can find a good deal on one.

I use a norgon.
The troy is too far away from my finger.
I have an idea to mod the norgon. Just have to find time.

Let me know what you do, I'm always looking for a better way. Not necessarily following said good idea, but definately looking.

Jesse,

I want to come up and shoot, but I've been out of state or out of the country for the last couple of shoots. In August, I fly to Germany on the day of the shoot. In September, I'll be in Indiana. No schedule yet for October, but I scheduled a doctors appoint for the day after the match, so hopefully I'll be there.

I'd love a LH Benelli if the release button was on the left side too. I believe the ejection port is on the left side but the release button is still on the right, which makes it less cool.

Maybe a crafty gunsmith could figure out a way to move it to the left side (hint...hint).
If so, sign me up too :72:

As a lefty, but not a 3 gunner (yet), I've been there and back with lefty guns. Hell, I even bought a LH 223 from Mikey C. About the only advantage I see is for a duty pistol (non Glock). Other than that, a mossburg shotty has controls on top of the receiver which is handy. About the only problem I have with a gun is my 10-22's puke hot brass into the crook of my elbow. Gotta figure out a solution for that...
