I finally did it. I finally had a stage in a match where I could say "That was pretty good" without using the words "except" or "but". Not to say I couldn't have done better, but finally it happened where I didn't screw up a reload, forget a target, or forget what I was doing in the middle of the stage. I also learned a spinner can be put over with one round from a shotgun. It was a great match and I look forward to shooting even more. 2015 is going to be the year that I actually practice between matches instead of using matches as my practice.

Shooting TO and finishing 75% of Josh Loganbill who shoots open is pretty damn good.

In my defense I was shooting a brand new 2011 I just finished building. Big change from a glock!

David had a very good match. I RO'ed his squad and he shot clean and was very quick. He has been improving quite rapidly over the last few months. Excellent finish for your 3rd or 4th match!

So are you saying you should have beat him a little harder?

I should have but didn't perform at the level I normally do. :ninja: Guess that's how it always is though right, should have done this or that and I could have done much better. Haha

I have never shot an entire match as well as I could have. Every now and then you get a perfect stage. Well at least until you see the scores its perfect.

So very true. We don't have any true Pro's around here that will come shoot so it can be difficult to compare scores. I plan on hitting more majors next year though.

My goal is to always just Beat Mike and lance at the local matches by 10%

Sounds like a good goal to have. Dillen Easley generally shoots at our club, he skipped out this month. I may have to shoot for 10% over him for next year. That may be a lofty goal though.

There are always things I look back on and try to incorporate later. Looking back on the last stage I shot, I did well, but I should have anticipated maybe three rounds to turn over the spinner instead of trying to top off the gun, so that was a few seconds with unnecessary loading, and at the end, with static steel torso and head targets at what, 40 or 50 yards maybe, I could very easily have hit them both offhand instead of trying to get support on the pallets. One stage required hits on each of four static steels from two different positions, for a total of two hits each. During the walk through, I chose the two highest positions on the stair step barricade, but during the stage, I had to get on my tip toes because I failed to take into account the sightline/boreline offset and the scope was too high to look through flatfooted.

I love shooting the Lead Farm matches because the stages always have a great mix of targets and things from up close bad breath distance out to nearly 500 yards. Not only is it a great match, but it provides awesome practice for nearly anything I might encounter in the area. It also helps that Josh is a young buck with no extra squishy love around his abdomen, so the stages usually require a good amount of movement and contortion.

Just trying to prepare you for anything David. I am not a fan of the stand and deliver stuff, too easy. Just wish I would have pushed it to 600 instead of just 500. Too many people were getting hits first shot! Maybe I should have made everyone shoot their pistol and shotgun first, both requiring some movement so you were huffing and puffing by the time you reached your rifle. Guess there is always next year!

600 would be good. Most holdover dots on these low power BDC reticles go to 500, so it would be cool to see how much added holdover would be needed for a 600 yard hit. I really liked the hit activated strobe. I personally wouldn't have a problem with some added stress before a long shot. Maybe on that pallet tunnel stage (Stage 4?) instead of the two static steel, you could have done a 600 yard steel knockover, birdshot only.

Way to keep an old man down, Josh. "I did so horribly that even Marlow could see my tail lights at the finish"

This illustrates perfectly the congratulatory nature of our sport. "No, you didn't finish first overall, or even first in your division. But you did finish in the top 25% by match points, so that's good." It's like my plaque that I can't stop looking at. "No, you didn't get first in the Fall Classic. No, you didn't even get first in Production. No, you didn't get first out of all the B class shooters. Ah, but you did get first in the B class, Production division. Here's a plaque saying you showed up."

I don't care, I love it. Between that and my medal for a LEO shoot in Arizona, my trophy case is getting awfully, uh, well, nope. Still not full. Maybe I'll throw them in a box under the stairs to feel like Miculek.

Nah, just giving you a hard time. You did perform at a much higher level than what I have seen out of you at previous matches. Which is good. You are improving rapidly, keep pushing harder next year and you will be at the top of TO at our club matches.

Next year I will either be much better at shooting matches or much better at coming up with excuses for why I shot a match like crap. Maybe a little of both. I think they go hand in hand.
