The article contains a fair amount of biased hyperbole about 'bloodshed' etc.

He contributed to bloodshed like Henry Ford did. Its just a mechanical piece of equipment.

I read that he didn't actually invent it but the russians captured the Schmeisser?(sp) factory along with Schmeisser himself and used his gun design and
since the russians didn't want to give a german credit said Kalishnikov invented it. But anyway it is a great rifle.
