How to get started right

Ok here's the deal, I used to shoot IPSC but I just shot for giggles, never join anything except a debt plan for ammo LOL I'm gearing up to really give this shooting a chance as I need something to do with all this spare time I have but I'd like to do it right. How do I go about joining something to see where I stand with everyone else? there are so many different initials of crap floating around I have no clue which one to join up! I plan on shooting 3 gun for sure and some pistol stuff so can you guys point me in the right direction?

I appologize if this information is posted I just wanted to make sure I spent my money with the right folks and get into the right organization. Thanks fella's and sorry if I sound like an idiot! Later,

uspsa/steel challenge. if you go to the steel challenge website, you can sign up for both organizations for $35/year. if you want uspsa, its only 10 bucks to add steel challenge to it. steel challenge is pretty fun shooting. plus you get a cool patch and sticker!

There is really no organization to join to measure your skill level in 3 gun. USPSA is the one you want to join in the OKC area for pistol comparison sake.

If you wanna get started right you need some quality training. Look no further than TDSA.

ACP1 is the best handgun training around.

Thanks fella's! getting everything geared up but probably won't get serious until next year when I have all the goodies, still need to get that Dillon and a decent pistol I'm thinking that G23 is going to get old quick! just want to do this without going into debt with the card.
