as egregious a safety violation as it is, it was through good fortune and good discipline by the shooter that ultimately prevented any injury.
I am looking at it as a great opportunity to learn and drive home the message of safety being everyones job, instead of a chance to dogpile on a RO that blew it and is probably taking it very hard.

But when the shooter headed his way he ducked down behind a metric target.

This was way past bad.

I've been downrange behind cover pasting targets when the r.o. was messing with the timer and I hear BEEP! Not cool!

One of the reasons when I RO, I make sure I am the last person downrange. Don't go back uprange until everyone is done pasting. I've been at a match were the RO didn't notice someone down range and yelled "going hot", which was very quickly followed up by a "STOP, STOP, STOP" from down range. Not cool. This video was even worse.

If the shooter would have been someone like Jason Grant, he would have been safer behind the metric target than the no shoot.
