Welcome aboard Mjolnir. As an engineer you must admire John Browning. He designed
a pistol in 1911 and everyone is still talking about it and using it.

Pls read Colt Automatic Pistols by Donald B. Bady, 72-85928. That the Army adopted the 1911 in 1911 is a fact. However design took many turns and ways between 1900 and 1910.
