Hi folks,

I am from the Wichita area (work there live just north of there), still have a couple of small family plots down in Ok (around Braman), inherited from mom's parents. They farmed around there until they retired in the 70's, sold most of it, and moved into town, and both are gone now.

Been a rough last 2 years trying to get venison into my freezer (pretty bad for me to get skunked one year, let alone 2 LOL), but decided to try my hand at augmenting said freezer with some of the pork you folks seem to be teeming with.

Besides, ya'all seem to be not quite as 'overrun' as Texas is, and I'm by nature a helpful soul. :)

For a living I work on Learjets. 8 yrs ago I retired from 2 decades of work in they Ks. Air National Guard as well (most of it in Security).
An outdoors person, motorcycle rider (not much time lately sadly), boater, hunter, recreational shooter (the way I shoot IDPA and 3-gun competition, it's 'recreational" LOL)

Anyhow,, funny as my ex-GI status makes my extreme dislike of AR's (yea, don't like them, mostly the gas system, but folks who love them, are more than welcome to them, hey,, it's America), that dislike makes the next thing even crazier,

No disrespect to my deer rifle one bit (dad's Browning BAR, .308 Winchester), but, I decided to make a "Hoggin' Rifle", which is, an LR-308 I assembled myself.

Don't ask me to explain it, I can't, and it MIGHT sound hypocritical LOL. She's a sweet shooter, the scope just get put on yesterday so some more shooting is on order for today (weather permitting). Yesterday was tied tight in smoking 2 hams and making a nice dinner for us 3.

I've been making ammunition ever since dad taught me this hobby (sickness) back in the late 70's so I could load out trap shells instead of him having to (single-stage MEC press).
That disease has grown over some 35+ years into 3 shotgun gauges, 2 rifle calibers, and 5 handgun cartridges, nearly every round I fire is home-made, and no, I haven't, I try extremely hard to never blow anything up. :) So far,, I've been very successful.

Well, I look fwd. to getting comfortable here and any advice, tips, or requests for pig-shooting help, are all greatly appreciated.

Welcome! Check out the monthly 3-gun matches at Central Kansas Prairie Shooters (south of Ellsworth) and Central Kansas Gun Club (just NW of Hutch). CKPS' match is the 2nd Sunday of the month and CKGC's match is the 3rd Sunday of the month. We'd be happy to have you

Welcome to my neck of the woods. I deer hunted in the Braman area for 10 years or so until the owner passed away, and was sold. Actually took a large mule deer off it that wandered into that area from out west for whatever reason.
Pigs are slim to none that pleases me unless one goes to the Kaw Lake area. The USDA and Ok Wildlife department did a flyover with choppers two weeks ago to thin the herd.
Most on here have the reloading addiction, and still feed it weekly.
We have a couple of shooters from Wichita that come to the USPSA and Steel Challenge match at the Ponca City Range. Check it out, and you might ride share with some of them that attend.
