Gunsmith and /or transfer agent??

For those who haven't heard, D & R has closed it's doors for lack of work. Is there someone else in the Low Country you use for gunsmithing or for title transfers for internet gun purchases? ATP, IMO, is out of the question.

EDIT: I have been told that D&R closed for personal family reasons, not lack of work. Sorry for the misinformation.

Trump Effect. This industry is so strange. It's hard not to admit a large portion of the business is fear/panic driven. The attacks on our rights are at an all time high - America must have a lot of confidence in Trump.

Ive been happy with Allied Arms... I have some friends that are FFLs but they slowing down their business..

I found out that Allied also has a gunsmith on site 4 days per week. Don't know who it is or anything about their work. But I am planning on finding out next week.

Let us know if you figure out how their gunsmith is, and the type of work they do. It would be great to have another resource for sure!

Yesterday I dropped two 1911s off at Allied for some sight work. I talked to the gunsmith and partner, He was skeptical but agreed to try to switch the sights. I am trying to have a red dot moved from one gun to the other using a mounting plate that fits in the rear dovetail. Late yesterday Allied called and said they cannot do the work, they're lacking the right tool.
Bottom line, seem to be very nice people but very limited in what they can do. I'd suggest you call about what you need doing before driving to the shop.

Allied Arms gave me another lead, Palmetto Arms owned by a gunsmith named Chester Cox. I left my 2 1911s with him to switch the sights. He quoted me "couple of weeks" for completion. We'll see........

Didn't get back to the OP, but Wheaton Arms is quite renowned. I think he's big into custom Glocks these days.

Just an update, the gunsmith at Palmetto Arms is very good and seems extremely competent. I would not hesitate to use him again.

FYI Wheaton Arms is a 3 hour drive.
