What are they?

Sort of steel challenge with some paper targets.

And you win glocks via random draw or performance.

But you have to use glocks.

The intent is really to get noobs into the shooting sports, but there are good shooters too.

You start as "amateur" until you win 3 glocks for performance, then you are a "master".

Time plus scoring with some pretty steep penalties for inaccuracy.

There are also indoor leagues. Big Boys did one last year, but I wasn't able to participate.

No movement. You shoot the same exact stages, every time. No matter where you shoot them, always the same. No movement, static shooting, pretty damn boring AND you can only shoot Glocks. I honestly have no idea why they are such a big thing, other than Glock heavily funds the winnings and gives away lots of stuff at them.

To clarify, I'm not putting anyone down who enjoys GSSF, but of all the shooting sports I've participated in, I find this to be VERY boring. I will still participate in them, but they receive lowest priority to me if they conflict with anything on the calendar I find to be more fun. To each their own.

Yep, this^^^^^. I have heard that you have a pretty good chance of winning a Glock, but I wouldn't know. They kinda discriminate against us non-Glock owners!

Do you have to be a member of GSSF to shoot the matches and win a gun or can you just show up and pay your entry fee and compete for the prizes?

You have to be a member, but you can show up and become a member when you pay your entry fee.
