Getting power into a safe without a built in power supply

It's a small one I bout for $5-600 at Lowes on clearance. I forget the big name on but it says made by Liberty.

I was hoping someone might say that. I didn't see any holes in back but I didn't lift up the floor yet.

Mine had a hole in the back but I had to enlarge it a little. I have the cord for a dry rod and for 48' of LED rope light that I use to illuminate the interior.

Some of those dry rods can be disassembled and the cord removed to make it easier to install in a safe that has a small hole.

It's very easy to drill through the safe by yourself. Use a good quality bit. I was able to use something like a #22 bit to make two holes side-by-side that perfectly fit the cord to the Golden Rod. The leftover material between the two holes can be removed with pliers, and a larger bit to deburr. Here's a tip: do it before you bolt it in place. It's a cat lady pushing a power cord through a perfectly sized hole that's right up against a wall.

Since everyone lives to make gun of my dumb ass ill make it easy on you by telling you a story.

I bought a BIG ass gun safe for my new crib. I had a cabinet made specifically for it. I had 3 helpers assisting me to push it in. They were pressed for time so I forgot to plug it in before we pushed it into the cabinet.

I actually just ran the cord for my golden rod through the door opening. It didn't pinch the cord at all.

A good bit will punch a hole right through that safe. Just pick a spot on the inside ideally a low corner and punch it out that way. The golden rod cords disassemble, so you only need a hole big enough to get the cord through.

I might recommend a little bit of "fire caulking" at the new hole drilled

fire retardant caulking used to seal around penetrations in a fire rated wall. Available at most home centers.

It is an expandable material that seals up an opening when it gets to a certain temperature. Most safes have it around their doors and it looks like thin hard weather stripping. Most safes that have cord holes also have it as a gasket around that hole as well. Idea behind it is to seal off safe from smoke and water.

You could just ghetto the safe and add a tap light to the door and top.

Feel around the felt in the back bottom. I bet there is a hole there.
