FYI Charleston gun show this weekend.

I think you mis understand the rules. No loaded firearms. Leave your clip in the car. You can have your firearm on you, but not loaded.

I know your going to say what is the point....well even the most careful people make mistakes, and when you work the shows, and with all the gun handling, I would prefer no loaded firearms. They have security for that.

Any event that provides security usually does not allow carry of a firearm. If you do not want to go to a gun show with excuses like the one you are using, then do not go. They are not for everybody, but it is always good to see familiar faces, especially ones from the forum. I am sure you give your business to football games, Boone hall oyster roast, taste of charleston, etc. events that do not allow you to carry.

There are accidents all the time at shows, and the guys that put the main ones on in SC have some of the least incidents. I prefer to be able to go home to my wife and kids after a long day at a show....not the ER.

Actually no i do not the only place i go that does not allow me to carry is my son's school and church and also none of the places you named are selling guns.... And when i went i was told at the door NO WEAPONS NO EXCEPTIONS. If they found one they would Ban me and press charges because my argument was if i really wanted to kill someone what about the huge knife within arms reach? Like you said mis informed!

But like you said it isn't for everyone and i would rather give my business to someone especially someone SELLING GUNS that allows me to carry. Now after the fact i have heard that they would allow me to keep the ammunition in the car and carry my rock in with a zip tie on it. But that still is not what i was told at the door.

And you going home and not to the E.R. well the only people that should be carrying should have a CWP and note the C. If you are planning on showing off your weapon or selling it you should have it un loaded and carrying another but that's just me. Just like the accident in north Carolina i think that weapon should have already been cleared and ready for show not being carried that day.

I am a Lil prude when it comes to treatment of a loaded weapon one of my friends lost a child to that. I do not take firearms lightly because it's only he accidents that the anti gun people see and talk about not any of the good.. Please do not get me wrong i am not saying that jimbo should be able to walk in with his UN checked 30-06 but l do think that valid CWP holders should be able to carry. That is just my opinion and as we all know those are like A holes and we all have them and some are bigger than others.

This forum is full of opinions....we welcome them all. I have seen some idiots try and load a gun just to see if the ammo would fit. I have had to almost jump across the table to stop them. Even though their intention may have been good, a little bump from behind at a crowded show can ruin the day for someone.

I understand where you are coming from, but I have seen some morons just not thinking, and even some experienced people not thinking and am glad they do not allow loaded firearms. I personally wish all the people when looking at a firearm would poit it up and not across the room at head level.

It gives the venders a little security. Now every else, I would love to open carry...as well conceal.

Key word should have it unloaded. They always have a jar of bullets from empty guns by the entrance. If there was a shooting don't plan on returning fire, have you seen how packed those shows are? Better off ducking or tackling the guy. Plus too many arm chair commandos at over capacity I can see how that's a problem.

I think gun shows are one of the safest places to be. With all the guns and ammo around, you're guaranteed mutually assured destruction if someone starts bustin' caps.

Fair enough i can agree with that!! Sometimes i forget that not all are as anal about clearing weapons as i am.... When a friend looses a child and your brother was the detective that worked the case it really gives you some perspective on handling guns loaded or "not".

There is no such thing as being too safe when it comes to firearms. It only takes one moment of not taking them seriously for something overly serious to happen.

i think this is the point of the no guns rule.

many of us were in the military, or LEO, and got it POUNDED into our heads about how to treat weapons.
and guys like us have a certain set of rules.

like if i hand someone a gun, i check it clear, rack it back & lock it, and say "WEAPON'S CLEAR" and i MAKE them lookin the chamber and say "weapons clear" back to me.

it gets the point across, but most non-military wont do it, or laugh at me.

but MOST people do not do that....they ASSUME the weapon is clear, and you know what assume means? it means you go to the ER :(

too many guys are mall ninjas or self absorbed know it all gun freaks, who want to finger thier toys in front of thier friends, or impress other people.

i just want to be safe.

we used to have an accidental discharge of the .50 cal at least once a month when i was active duty. good grief!!

Yes i mean it is like yesterday a friend at work brings in his .380 that he has had forever hands it to me to look at and says. It's empty it has two in the "clip" but nothing in the barrel. So the first thing i do when i take it from him is point in a safe direction , drop the mag and rack the slide back( it didn't have a slide lock) to make sure it was clear. I have had another friend on two separate occasions hand me a loaded rifle (one in the chamber) after telling me it was "unloaded" and giving me grief " what you don't believe me" the first time when i checked...... Not the second. I mean it is simple it's like a third friend of mine and i say " Don't point the flashy end at anything you don't want to die, and keep your booger hook off the bang switch till you wanna kill something!"

my uncle inherited all of his Grandpaw's rifles.

someone had chained them all together (dunno what that means: rope/chain/cord/whatever)

and wrapped them in a blanket

and so when he went to pull them out of the truck, the cord pulled the trigger on one of the deer rifles and shot him in the chest.

i just don't understand people like your friend (and we all have friends like that), and my uncles family, that don't have a clue if it loaded or not.
