Sen Rand Paul filibustered the incoming CIA director's nomination for 13 hours. This was a rare talking filibuster, where he actually got up Mr. Smith Goes to Washington style and talked for 13 hours, with some help from a few other Senators. He is upset that the administration has been unclear about the times when it is appropriate to use a drone strike on American citizens within the United States, and essentially asserts that the President can kill any American, anytime, with no judicial process or congressional oversight.

Unlike many Filibusters that rapidly devolve into nonsense like reading the phone book, this one had substantive comments and argument throughout.

He was aided by Senators Lee, Cruz, Rubio, Moran, Toomey, Wyden, Cornyn, Barasso, and Chambliss. A few others showed up (late), including Tim Scott from SC. In between awesome commentary on the Alamo (anniversary is this week!), Sen Cruz was reading tweets and entering them into the Senate record, so for those folks who think it is pointless to try to contact your elected representatives... Sometimes the message gets through.

Meanwhile, Sen Lindsay Graham (R-SC) was at dinner with Pres Obama tonight at a posh five-star hotel.

And good for him. His filibuster, the parts of it that I saw, were well-researched, on point, and articulately stated. It is rumored he is considering a run for POTUS in 2016. I don't know enough about all of his policy positions to form a conclusive opinion but the consensus on FOX last night was that his stock just went up. At least one Democrat supported his filibuster last night. Again I say, good for him! Holder, on the other hand, is someone I do not trust. And the administration's rationale for this policy is, "We haven't killed any Americans on American soil YET." Now, that's comforting. :o

bammy better be careful. we need to make sure HE is responsible when or if he is firing a hellfire missle at "us" and a couple of kids get splattered, after the big deal he made after SandyHook.
