This rifle weighs in at 7lb 14.5oz as it is in the pic. All I need is a set of backup sights. Looking at Troy and YHM. Lots of Magpul items.

The front to back cog is right over the magwell.

I have not checked the headspace or had time to test fire. Any help with the headspace would be appreciated.

Is there a way to measure headspace with a spent round?

I have put 100 rounds through this rifle and only had to make minor adjustments to the gas block position. It moved forward when the rifle was fired the first time. I got it repositioned and tightened it down just alittle more. It only moved forward about the distance as a business card folded in half. I expected to have to make some adjustments here and there after the first outing. Only had to make the one.

I like the piston system on this rifle and it was super easy to install. The Spike's T2 heavy buffer and the Adam's Arms kit works together perfectly, despite AA saying they could not guaranty it would cycle. I really like the balance and my PMag standard capacity mags. My NiBor trigger and hammer have a good crisp pull and break. I really have no complaints, except. I really need a set of BUIS. I need a set that has a front sight that can take the heat of being on the AA front gas block. It is the same height as the upper receiver. I mounted a scope to the rifle when I test fired it. I bore sighted the scope and then chisled a hole the size of a dime out of the target. I had the paper out as far as I could get it at H&H. Must say I was impressed. Not bad for a ground up build in my little work space.

I got a Troy flip up iron sights from Larue. A little pricey, but they won't melt. I had to adjust my Adams Arms Piston a few times til it cycled properly and now it flings brass 20 feet at the 4 O'clock. Nice weapon you built!!

How do you like the Troy set? Are they spring loaded? I was looking at those with the DOA rear sight.

The troys are not spring loaded. They are nice and built solid. I prefer the HK front. I have two sets of Troy's and two sets of KAC's. I've found I prefer the KAC fronts due to their lower profile, but I like the peep on the troy rear sights better.

The Troy sights are very solid and low profile if you wanted to mount a scope over them. After I bought a scope though, I was really considering an offset sight so that I wouldn't have to remove the scope to use them. Problem solved when I bought the Swaro Z6I and now I don't have to worry about close in shots with iron sights, being that the Swaro has an awesome 1:1.
