Recently the mags are not dropping free on my DW have to use my left hand to clear empty mag than fit full mag in . Using Mec Gar 10 round mags six of them about 1.5 old . Pistol is clean working good but mag changes are not what i want . Any tips to help ? I do have an mag well installed that fits in the IPSC box , otherwise stock pistol that always ran well - Thanks Skinner

I have exactly the same problem with a PM9. I just put the PM9 aside for the time being and use other 1911s that are not fussy about which mag from a collection of Dawson, Tripp, & Wilson ETM I stuff in them. The magwell is the same one used on the DW Specialist, but I don't think the magwell has anything to do with it. Also the trigger bow is perfect so it may well be a mag issue.

finally had some range time , clean pistol check all commented problem areas , all good empty mags dropping fine . Found that dropping mags with rounds left in them the top remaining round dragged or prevented mag from dropping freely . It was moved forward past the front of the mag . I have ordered new wolf plus 5% power mag springs .might help?IMG_2789.JPGIMG_2790.JPG

no I have been out of town for 3 weeks ,should have ordered them before I left , it will take weeks to get them ,so I am going to re-spring the mec-gars as they have been great for at least a thousand rounds and see from there. Ordered the wolf springs today should be here mid-week. Side note was able to catch the Gov't Mule show at Red Rocks while i was out and about highlight of my summer!

Keep us posted on how the mag springs change works out. Mags are a consumable and need to be refreshed or replaced periodically.

That's one of the nice things for me not having enough time to shoot as much as I want. Nothing ever breaks or wears out.

Dan Wesson ships Metalforms with their guns (marked Dan Wesson). Dawson mags are also Metalforms and they ran great in my Valor.
Same here. I tried Mec Gar and Check Mate mags and neither mag would drop out of the gun if I did a partial mag reload. I have metalforms and one chip McCormick 10 rounder. All run well.

If the mags are out of spec, (bought that way or growing) they can usually be brought back into spec in a vise.

My ECO came with Checkmate 8 round 9mm's from DW. I found them to work just fine. So much so that when DW switched over to Metalforms The only way I was able to get more was by finding Kimber branded Checkmates. They run perfect in both my ECO AND my SA RO Compact.
My only ***** is the difficulty of dissasembly for cleaning because of the welded floorplate. If I shoot an IDPA match with either I bring a can of compressed air to attempt to blow the sand out of any that gets in.

Before you buy new mags, measure how "thick" your mags are, and see if they are still in spec.
