Hand made Snake wood grips for the full size 1911 frame. Snake wood is a very hard, dense and heavy wood. The pattern in the figuring says it all.......ssssssnake wood.

I have packs on now, however if I went to wood for CCW.
What wood would you choose that will resist breaking under a fall to concrete or like it?

Well Mike, it's hard to predict what any material will do if dropped on concrete. However, the hardest, heaviest, densest wood I've ever worked with is marble wood (see attachment). Red or white oak would be hard to break as well. Then, snakewood and desert ironwood (see attachments) will come in second and third as far as hardness. www.customgrips-r-us.com

I'm more comfortable with Steel. Not wood, so I bought the Rubber grips to prevent any chance of breakage.

The Desert Ironwood & the Ebony wood grips are said to be dense & strong.
These are on my 1977 MKV series 70. Too expen$ive to drop.

Bought for my Commander but now are homeless LOL. Too slick in rapid fire.

Yes, ebony is one of the harder woods, but it doesn't even come close to the marble wood. The marble wood all but ruined the blades on my band saws by the time I was finished.
