Constitutional Carry Update?

"Most of YOU reading this have not been trained enough to deal with a live shoot-no shoot situation.
so what makes you think you are capable of doing it?"........Forward assist, are you trained enough and have you dealt with a shoot or get shot situation?....If you were faced with the imminent need to pull the trigger would you stand there and debate whether you are trained enough???....God forbid that you ever put me in a position to demonstrate my right to stand my ground....I think you might see a little training and experience kick in quickly....Please note that I intend no threat in my words, but don't bet your arse that some of us are not trained and experienced......Some of us may even have holes in us we weren't born with.

To be honest with you, I would rather have a complete dumb arse trying to defend the innocent lives of a bunch of screaming people peeing all over them selves in a mad panic.......This untrained dumb arse would save a few lives....Better than nothing!!!!

Armed or not, firearm encounters can never be prepared for totally.

I have had two bad firearm encounters so far in my life.

My first was while bird hunting, pheasant season specifically. I was on a rise looking down on a pheasant that was flushed out. There were two other hunters in the field adjacent to me at an almost head on location. The lead man did not see me on the rise despite looking like a sunkist orange in full rain gear of the same color. While rising my barrel to clear it the closer hunter's friend cried out a warning to all concerned at the same time he opened fire. He had a Remington semiauto 12 gauge and fired his three shots at the pheasant- and myself. I took two dozen #6 birdshot in my shins and thighs, fortunately no higher. I didn't go bird hunting much after that.

The second time was a mugging at night where I took some jacket schrapnel from some 9mm rounds off of a stone wall behind me into my back. This was a three to one dilemma which could have gone SERIOUSLY bad for me. If I were armed during this encounter I would have been the only one standing. Through the grace of God I made it out of this fiasco. Not something I would care to repeat. I could say more about another pair of non firearm related instances, but the point is moot.

The whole crux of the matter is this: one can NEVER be prepared enough for circumstances that may happen these days. Prepare enough as possible for the worst and hope for the best. One can never be prepared enough and certainly should NEVER underestimate the circumstances...

if you are the defender of that which is right, may justice prevail- and may your faith guide you through any and all troubled waters.

probably needs its own thread but WORD radio Mike Gallager today was talking about what happens if your home is invaded and you shoot, probably kill, the intruder.

he was trying to call and ask the solicitor what happens. he was told that your gun is taken for evidence even if you arent charged. you may or may not get it back.

someone else says you will be sued by the guys family.

i think the police should replace your ammo and you should be able to sue the intruders family for birthing a crook to indanger your life.

I think at the end of the day this is all we can hope for

This thread went full potato somewhere along the line.

Ideally, the second amendment confirms our right to protect ourselves and our families how we see fit. Be as prepared as you can be, and fight like hell to come out on top if you're ever in a life or death situation.

No one here has any right to tell me if I can or can't carry, and I wouldn't ever think of telling any other free person they couldn't.

The guy driving that van obviously wasn't properly trained or experienced because the potatoes seem to have won the confrontation.

Well pass the pepper...I must season this hat
The other ten percent are all forum members.
go figure.
As far as my resume us concerned, this is the internet.
I could half it and still be called a liar, so why bother?
My point was simple to anyone able to listen and not simply looking for an opportunity to object.
The government has neither the inclination not the ability to properly train people looking to arm themselves for personal defence.
police and military training help to familiarize... possible to brace the nerves, but when a man is faced with taking a life, for any reason, only a fool would call themselves prepared .

Frost...don't know the specifics but I received this email today regarding the issue from the Palmetto Gun Rights organization:

Dear Mike,

PGR was just able to review the language of the proposed subcommittee amendment to S115, The South Carolina Constitutional Carry act of 2013.

There are problems with the language of the amendment.

It is critical that it get fixed before it is presented to the full committee for adoption.

There was not time to correct the language before the hearing this afternoon, so PGR has recommended that the bill be carried over to the next meeting of the subcommittee.

To ?carry over? a bill means to delay a vote until a later date.

It is better that we delay passage in order to get the amendment language correct than to get it passed quickly and have long lasting problems because the language of the law was problematic.

So, please contact your state Senator and encourage him to carry over S115 so we can get the language of the amendment corrected.

You can find each member of the committee and their contact information at this link.

I?ll let you know when the language is fixed and we are ready to have a vote on the bill.

Thanks for your support!

I don't know if if had anything to do with the above mentioned group or not, but it sure does sound good. For all they know, this has to do with a conversation I had with Senator Bright ;)

The late amendments have to do with making sure this bill doesn't clash with the current privileges that CWP holders have. I haven't seen the language, but I suspect is has to do with the requirements that a CWP holder currently is required to follow when he carries, even though he may no longer have to have the permit at all. The sub-committee members just got the amendment yesterday so the bill's sponsor felt it fair to give them more time to review it. I think that's fair as well. It's a shame that all Senators don't think about what's fair.

there is that wool again.

add these words

this bill does not clash with current privledges CWP holders have.

i dont think they have the stuff to vote on any weapon bill until their fearless leader gets what he wants done, and he is dragging his feet.

why not make it simple. heres a bill.

we the people of SC do not want our second amendment infringed, at all.

I'm working on getting a copy of the amendment. It may be premature to declare any funny business. I suspect I know what one, possibly two of the problems are.

I have written Lindsey Graham several times stating that he will loose my vote if he compromises with the democrats on anything!!!.........I have expressed similar feelings to all of our state politions and governor numerous times.

NO NEW LAWS, ENFORCE THE ONES WE ALREADY HAVE!!!

S 115 was carried over again. They cannot get the language of the amendment straight and any support that may have been present in the committee is starting to wane. I'll be making a call to urge them to get their elephant dung together before next week.
