constitutional carry is intimate

I'll send them an email and let them know there are 50 states in the country and there has been for at least a couple of years now.

I'll see if they will do a story about how it's possible that all of those states where open carry without government training or approval haven't turned into wastelands of people, who don't know which end of the gun the bullets come out of, shooting each other because the nanny state didn't tell them not to.

The laws in the United States regarding open carry of handguns are vary from state to state. Below is the full list of open carry states:

I lived in North Carolina and just recently moved. They allow open carry without a permit but concealed carry requires a permit. So it should be in the top list.

I think there's enough evidence that people don't get into crazy shootouts all the time just because constitutional carry is allowed. States should err on the side of liberty rather than restricting it. Therefore, just allow constitutional carry.

When I spoke in favor of constitutional carry at City Hall, believe me, a few negative thoughts were in the back of my mind, such as all the untrained citizens of this state who have never fired a gun unloading a entire mag in a crowded mall for his own defense. When I think of the potential for innocent bystanders becoming victims to random fire, I go back to the days when concealed carry was the issue here. I thought we would have shootouts on street corners downtown. It never happened, and in states that have open carry now, I am not aware of it happening either. I fail to understand how, a few hours of instructions and 100 rounds makes a big difference. I do not consider that trained. To me, that is more likely to be considered "Informed".

In my home, I can carry openly, if I so desire, and I can carry in my yard. Why, when I cross the magical property line, must I now hide my weapon in the glove box of my car or leave it home? Why is the average citizen forced to be essentially disarmed when they choose to leave the security of their own property? That makes no sense to me. If its OK for me and others to carry near the neighbors, it should be OK for them to carry in public.

Finally, the right to self defense should not be limited to those who have the time and money to spend on taking the "class". I believe it is fair to require it for reciprocity with other states until those states see the (hopefully) benefits of allowing it.

So is bouncing a check out of state.

So, don't bounce checks.

Mods,
I apologize for participating in the hijacking of this thread. Feel free to move my comments or just edit them out. This is not the place to try and change minds or feelings.
Cohiba, We don't look at this from the same point of view and or background. I do respect your right to have your opinions whether I agree with them or not. It sucks trying to work on this via computer. My keyboard skills suck. We had secretaries to type up stuff when I was coming up. If you get to the swapmeet maybe we can discuss it there.

For those who open unlicensed open carry and/or Constitutional Carry, I hope that you've never taken your families to dangerous cess pools like Virginia, North Carolina, or Kentucky. I wonder how cops in North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, or any of the many other states allow unlicensed open carry manage to do their jobs? I bet crime is out of control! BLOOD IN THE STREETS! COPS SHOOTING CIVILIANS! GANG BANGERS OUT OF CONTROL! SHOOTINGS OVER PARKING SPOTS! TWO MEN ENTER, ONE MAN LEAVES!

Oh, hang on. Violent crime rates per 100K:
Columbia, in safe, well trained, carefully licensed South Carolina - 1001
Sumter, in safe, well trained, carefully licensed South Carolina - 846
Richmond in dangerous unlicensed open-carry friendly VA - 700
Norfolk in dangerous unlicensed open-carry friendly VA - 593
Lexington in dangerous unlicensed open-carry friendly KY - 453
Raleigh in dangerous unlicensed open-carry friendly NC - 418

I would love South Carolina to prove me wrong, but I have found it to be a state that abhors liberty in many important ways. The people in here wetting their pants over a little freedom are sad in a sort of way, except they probably vote so you're also part of the problem. I hope your chains rest lightly and all that.

SO a person who bounces one check out of state...In your opinion...loses his basic fundamental right of self preservation for his entire life. Thats reasonable to you?
OK.
You are obviously a "the law is the law" fellow.

In one of your previous posts you stated "I have had patients come in ..." are you a doctor of some variety?

Not a Doctor but in the medical field.
I work to elect reps who look at freedom the same way I do. Somewhat libertarian but very conservative constitutionally. I think there are many unjust, unfair and unconstitutional laws.Have you voted yet today? It is an election day down here. I do think there should be common sense applied to our justice system. I might add that an accidental lapse of financial judgement isn't grounds for loosing your rights. I will say that a deliberate protracted habit with the intent of stealing by kiting checks should be punished as a felony. Thief is a thief. Trying to steal my hard earned money is just as bad as as politicians trying to steal my rights. The punishment should be swift and final. Your comment about Nazis and Jews ....

Cool it, boys.

Disagreement and RATIONAL discussion are fine, but keep the insults out of it.

no problem, sweetie.
The point was simple, Dave.
Your attempt to deflect everything by making each example inflated to the extreme goes toward your obvious inability to understand.
Everything is not BLACK and WHITE.
Every check bounced isnt an attempt to pillfer, every damaged stop sign isnt an attempt to disrupt highway safety.
I was simply attempting to make you aware of the fact that a person can have thier fundamental rights restricted by the government simply by making a small act a felony.
SUCH AS REGISTERING A GUN.

SO, try and follow...
If/When...
the government says...
X,Y and Z type of firearm has to be registered OR ITS A FELONY...
If YOU, DAVE, own one of those types...
will you register them or be a felon?

very simple question that I am sure you will attempt to deflect and avoid.

and to follow up on your statment about the swap meet...no. I wouldnt ID myself to you because you would likely call the cops and tell them I was carrying without a permit.

Cohiba,
I believe that as long as you do not endanger my family or myself, you can push your wagon anyway you want. As for stating that I would or would not break laws on a public forum. You are right. I won't. Once again, you may crow all you wish. The fallacy of the Internet is the belief that you are anonymous. Make no mistake, if they want to know who you are, they can find you. I have relatives who do that kind of thing. I've already stated my feelings about absolute laws so you are being deliberately obtuse. I don't care if you carry without a license. That is your prerogative.
I'm skeptical about your intentions because of your continued efforts to have people declare that they break the law on a public forum. Of course, that could just be cause I forgot to put my tinfoil cap on last night. In some ways your actions remind me of a Narc I met in college. She was very vocal about her contempt for drug laws and law enforcement.
Anyhow, if you want to discuss it in person, come by the swap meet and don't tell me who you are. Just come support The Forum and the good cause East Coast is working for. I'll be easy to recognize. 60 years old with some type of Stetson, 6'7"ish, and driving a bright blue Pontiac Vibe.

Weird. If you google agent provocateur the first response is for a lingerie web site. What are we talking about here again?

ENOUGH.

We are a friendly and cordial community, even when disagreements occur. I've already warned you guys that this attitude displayed here is NOT welcome, and will not be tolerated.

Inflammatory posts are being deleted and this thread locked. Move on and zip it up boys, or I'll zip it for you.
