I'm confused.

Some people just shoot at the target, not a point on the target. At the academy some were so bad the instructors had to stick a bright green paster on the center of the target for them to shoot at.

one really has to get to know the way HF scoring works.
I tell anyone that listens to play around with your match results , see what turning 5 alphas into 5 charlies does to your score. see what dropping zero points does to your score, keeping your same time.
I used to spend hours doing this on sunday mornings.

I have wanted to do this many times, but how do you calculate the time into the total stage points to get the HF? Is it total points divided by time which looks like how Micah came about HF in his example?

Yep, points divided by time. Me and my buddies often break out the calculator during matches too, if we're close on points and maybe a second a part or something on a stage. you have to start calculatin and see whos boss

With iron sighted major guns A/C on every target is like borderline acceptable. One 2 alpha for 2 alpha charlies is sonething like 93% of the target points. Not true in open though.

Did I ever mention how much I'd prefer for people to just use their real name?

I think the rapid growth of "not give a **** about my score" plays a part.... at least it does in me on occasion.
