Probably a stupid question, but at the larger matches, are you competing against shooters in your class or overall place?

Some matches award a trip to the prize table by 1st GM, 1st M, 1st A, 1st B, 1st C, 1st D then Back to 2nd GM and so on.

Classifications aren't a perfect measure of your performance but it does give you somewhat of an idea of how your doing at your skill level.

Take me for instance I am A class in Limited and B class in everything else. I can hang with most M class and some GM guys. I haven't shot but one or two pistol matches in the last 18-24 months so my classification is probably lower than it could be if I shot more classifiers.

Both. A match will give trophies for class participation...1st place with 3 entries, 2nd with 5 entries ect. You will also have an overall placement in your division.

I was just wondering. I would like to do something bigger than the local match this summer, but looks like it may be 3 Gun instead of USPSA. Cool stuff going on really close in 3 Gun. I don't know if KY has a sectional match, and the area stuff is so far away, I would probably have more fun just going west and shooting with the Boomers for a weekend.

I'm coming to RockCastle like 4 more times this year. It's seriously the best place to go for a big match.

I'm looking to see if I can get off for the Pan Am next month, definitely going in August, and maybe October.
