A couple weeks ago Sheriff Al Cannon of Charleston County jumped on the "I won't enforce illegal laws" bandwagon. Some guy made a "Resign Al Canon" website and has 300 online signatures. This guy goes on CNN and was just speaking to, I believe, Soledad O'Brian and was speaking about how he and others want to hold elected officials accountable and that Sheriffs don't get to choose which laws to enforce. It was reported that Sheriff Al Cannon has since waffled a bit on his hardline "I support the US Constitution" stance and has said he will enforce illegal regulations despite his personal views or his sworn oath.

It would be nice if Al Cannon enforced Federal laws and indefinitely detained every single person arrested that is unable to provide documentation that they're a US citizen or in this country with a valid Visa. You know, hold them for INS pick-up (which INS refuses to do). Something tells me the anti-gun people that want Sheriffs to enforce Federal law (which is outside the scope of their obligations and duties) would cry foul if the Sheriff also enforced Federal immigration laws. Surely then they'd be the ones picking and choosing which laws to enforce.

Maybe Al Cannon should send deputies to Brady Quirk-Garvan, the originator of the Resign Al Cannon website/petition, and demand evidence of Federal income tax filing as well as check the validity of his Social Security Number and then, since he's a businessman, sent deputies to perform OSHA inspections of all properties he is associated with. I mean, the Sheriff has to enforce Federal laws, right?

I wish humans could learn through osmosis because some people need to be beaten about the head and shoulders with a Civics 101 textbook wrapped in a US Constitution. A county Sheriff is the SUPREME law of his respective land. Federal authorities are only ALLOWED in his county because he ALLOWS it. He can expel them at any time and arrest them for impersonating government officials if they try and take any action within his county if he so chooses.

Sheriff Al Cannon runs Charleston County's law enforcement. Not the US Justice Department, not a Senator from California and certainly not some retard with a computer that has no concept of Constitutional Law.

People like this are the exact reason why I own the guns that I own. Some tyrants use swords while others use pens. They're all the same.

I was very pleased to hear Al Canon stand up and say what he did. However, since Joe Riley is a "Mayor against Guns" I would expect that he has since gotten pressure from area politicians.

It is also interesting to note that the Police Department is hired, and none have come forth to say they will not support a gun confiscation. Sheriff's are elected and seem to be much more in tune with what the people want. Now if we can just get the other politicians to follow their lead and do what "We the people" want.
