Carrygun Match at Heartland Feb 20th !

I think I am going to pick up one of those slim littel Taurus .380's with my match gift certificates that I won. I would love to try a side match with the .380's sometime.

Have you shot the Ruger LCP? Try one of them before you buy the Taurus.

OR

Reddog has the Kel-Tec P3AT $260 out the door. I have never shot one, several of my friends swear by them. Two LEO friends carry them as their BUG

Back to the topic at hand:

I have a question about one of the divisions.

PDLL = Ported (like the Glock "C" models) Dot (like the Optima red dot) Lasers and gun-mounted Lights.

Why are ported guns categorized with dots, lasers and lights?

They are cheater guns. The ports reduce recoil, the dots and lasers are easy to shoot.

I carried Mike's hand me down LCP for about a year. Great gun!!! I just figured the Taurus is cheaper and the trigger actually felt better.

The Keltec is a copy of the LCP. Oh wait its the other way around isn't it.

Does porting REALLY reduce recoil that much? I has a G23c and really didn't notice that much difference ??

BACK ON TOPIC...

Porting is supposed to help. I think with the little guns it can only do so much.

Ben I have several Glocks, several holsters, and several mag pouches if it would be easier for o e of you to shoot my gun you are welcome to it.
if you could bring them that would be great... i will confirm that they will be there and then send you a pm.... thanks for the offer..

Porting exists on guns other than the Glock "C" models.

That said, my 22-C kicks like a 9mm.

My Springfield V-10 kicks like a light .40

The V-10 is a viable carrygun, but holding 6+1, it's not the most competitive in the "Open" division of USPSA

Would it be to much of a safety issue to have a stage with a handheld light? Maybe a portion of a stage?

Dark stages are kinda cool the first time. but the extra time it takes to turn on/off the lights makes them a pain in the ass. I would be happy if I never shot one ever again.

Sorry, I should've explained.
Lead cast bullets that most of use for match shooting make alot of smoke. Trying to look thru that smoke with a light is pretty much useless. The jacketed bullets don't smoke near as bad. I found out the hard way. Of course we didn't have any warning that we'd be shooting a dark stage, so nobody would've been able to prepare for it anyway. I keep some jacketed ammo in my bag now just in case.

Dark stages are cool, but they are a pain to run. They are slow and sometimes confuse people. The last dark stage we had, a shooter shot UNDER the tarps at the target he could see from the previous position. Obviously, his shot didn't hit the backstop.

I ran him again and THAT time he did the stage backwards, even tho he'd just done it correctly (except for that cross-range shot thing.)

Turning the lights out can be very disorienting for some. It also makes it difficult to monitor the shooter for safety issues.

I will have a dimlight stage coming up, but as for a completely dark stage, probably not in the near future.
