ive got a lot of uppers for my full auto so i get mine at wal mart.
40 mm is $39.
30 mm is less.

Have you all shot this scope with .223 or 5.56. Just wondering how it would hold up to the recoil. Dose it co-witness with your sights at all. Seems to sit a little low from the pics. Any feedback is helpful. I would much rather go the cheaper route at this point as it will only be used for plinking at ranges 100ft and less.

the lower the scope the more in line with the bullet.
i have one on 2 556 uppers, 9mm ,2 22 uppers and one like it on a 308 AR-10 and soon a 762x39 upper. that will make 7. they all but the 308 are used on my full auto, no problem so far, several 1000 rds each.
if you will only have one or two, go for the gold, but i have other rifles too so i cant pay $400 times 10 for optics.
the only bad thing about them is you HAVE to turn them off or the battery will die in a day or so. you get used to turning them off and having some extra batteries.

I have a BSA 38mm from Wal-Mart that I've had on three different ARs with nary a problem. Currently it's on my 6.8SPC and has seen it's share of abuse. Still holds true.

Good to hear that I don't have to go out and spend big $$$ for a scope to hold true. Especially as I'm just plinking and not using for duty.

A note on red dot sights: If you have less than perfect vision, the dot will look like a star. So before you criticize any of them, put your glasses on (if applicable). I can't complain about my TruGlow 30mm tube type. Look for something with click adjustments. If you want a really small window type, Burris Fastfire, but its in the hundreds range -- not Eotech but not cheap no-name either. Good prices here:
