Brass vs. Steel ammo debate settled?

i looked the article over pretty well.

even with my full auto i dont think the article pertains to most of us.

this is more of "what does your barrel look like after you try to destroy it"

i love a mag dump but im not going to do 5 one right after another, unless someone is shooting back. in that case who is worried about burning up a barrel?

still a good test.
 
I found the hi-res pictures the most interesting. Especially of the erosion around the gas ports and the cutaway barrels.

Was just the first "comprehensive" test I have seen to answer the debate, but it really didn't answer much. Other than 10k rounds out of any rifle with any style ammo will destroy it, lol.
 
Brass vs Steel casings isn't really the big issue. The real issue is copper jacketed vs bi-metal (copper plated steel) jacketed bullets.
The bi-metal jackets cause much more barrel wear.
 
um, and you can reload brass. But, let's not get into that discussion of reloading steel here. Another topic.

and believe it or not there are steel covered bullets out there.
