Benelli M2 Shell Catch

From the factory, loading shells in my M2 has been a slight pain. It seems like the shells are getting caught in the shell latch. I polished the latch which helped a little bit and took the gritty feeling out of loading the shells using the weak hand method. Do people usually take a file to the latch or cut the latch spring so there is less tension on the latch to make loading easier?

Just taking it out and bending it slightly can make a world of difference. If I get it too loose shells can slip past it pretty easily. Trial and error kinda deal.
