Benelli M1 Spreader Choke

It says that the pattern will be more open than cylinder. Does that mean a wider pattern, and if so, why is that desirable? Two clays/poppers/plates at once?

You ever miss a clay at 3-5 yards? It's because your pattern is the size of a quarter. I use this choke for close fast shooting to give me more pattern and therefore more room for error. It also can come in handy when there are potential doubles. The trick is knowing how far it's effective. Not gonnna work in a 4" plate at 25 yards.

Hmmmm, I'm thinking about a quail covey gun right now. :D

Seriously, I'm wondering if they put a little "twist" in the choke to make it spread.
I have a Taurus judge tha has a great pattern at 3 yds, but goes downhill after that.

What about a Judge stage? Shoots slugs, 00 buck, shot shells?

The Briley diffusion has slight rifling in it so in assuming this one does to. Another note if caution is that it can shoot slugs drastically different with the diffusion choke.
