Semi-pro advice please 😀
Previously, I was told to get classified because I wouldn't be allowed to shoot certain matches. Today, we became card carrying OKGGC members. Yippee! Ran into FeeGee and ?Ryan, I think?. They said the H&H classifier match is on & how great it is to get classified in one match. They said don't worry about not being a USPSA member yet, just do it online in a few days. Super!

We meandered around the tables at OKCGC, lots of advice was offered & now I'm confused.
Was told whatever I classified as (limited/production) and with (9mm/40/45), that's what I would need to stay with or I'm just wasting my time.
I'm a newb, I shoot a Glock 17 9mm plain Jane...for now. I've shot a few matches, as production & limited, depending on advice of match director. Didn't make me any difference, just wanted to learn & have fun, didn't worry about the competitive aspect but would like to be more than bottom of the list soon.
So should I stick to one class or the other? Limited or Production?
And is there any advantage or disadvantage to getting classified now or waiting until I improve?
Will being unclassified keep me from trying out certain matches?

Almighty Semi-Pro Gurus, give me your best advice, please. ðŸ¤"

Get classified so you can monitor your progress. Once you see your progressing, the fire in your belly gets more intense.
Thats the only way I can describe it.

What division do you see yourself shooting more often?
For me it was limited, because that meant I could load up my mags and do just about anything I wanted to my gun except put a red dot sight on. I shot limited minor with a Glock 19 until I could save the scratch for a better rig in .40

For others, it's production because they want to stick with an "off the shelf" gun to be more proficient for everyday life/carry or just for the "purist" aspect of it.

You have to decide which route you want to take and stick with it to climb the ranks and better your abilities.

Thanks Dennis! The fire in my belly is there, it's the pay checks burning a hole in my pocket that have my attention. Lol

Get classified now. You'll get a new card in the mail when you get better and rise in the ranks.
Matt, thanks. I'm picking one & sticking to it. And will look into things I can improve or add until the piggy bank is full again.

Go ahead and get classified. You can track your progress without it, but it does make it easier just to log into USPSA.org and look at at all of your classifier scores.

Honestly I'd tell you to shoot limited for a few matches. You can concentrate on your shooting and safety more instead of your stage gaming. Besides you might find that you want to shoot revo or open division. Just shoot a few matches, decide what you like, and then go for it.

No kidding. I skipped all of the talking and went to the shooting part, only to realize he did the logical thing. Shoot the top, then the right, then wait for the rest to come to you.

I thought semi-pro's shot the bottom first. It doesn't matter how it comes to them.

My favorite star is that one you have with 6' long arms with clays instead of plates
