AMMO PATROL

Was visiting my daughter in Columbia on Friday. Visited a Walmart in W. Columbia. The shelves were bare. Visited Sportsman's Warehouse also in W. Columbia and was only able to purchase 1 box (limit one per day) of Remington UMC .45 ACP. Visited Shooter's Choice and was able to purchase 2 boxes of PMC .45 ACP. Not a bad haul considering the severe ammo drought here in S'Burg county. I forgot to check the Academy Sports in that area.
 
How are you folks finding out about these limited stock items at Cabela's? This is the third one I've seen posted (here, Slick Guns, Gun Deals, etc) in the past couple of days, but they are not visible in the corresponding (e.g. rimfire) category pages on Cabela's site. Are you subscribed to something?

you can get it at walmart, you just have to ask the right person the right questions.

she may have been fired by now but a young lady at Simpsonville told me what they and woodruff rd were getting the other day. she called woodruff and found out from the assistant manager when they would be putting it out. this was about 4 oclock.

i went there, aske the people waiting what they were there for. they all said 22s. i told them i wanted 9mm, so the first thing they brought out was 9mm. i knew they were getting 4 boxes of 250 at $62.97 a box. the guys were a little upset when i grabbed 3 of them, so i reminded them i asked what they wanted and they said 22s. they came off the truck later i hope. paid $200.24 for 750 rds of REM. and left. they also had a case of 100 rd boxes. they got LOTS of 22s, some 45.

i wanted factory 9mm cause my machine gun reloads wont fire in a striker fired pistol. i just found Grace a 9mm S&W Shield. she likes it.

But how did they find it?
 
Other than the obvious common calibers, i.e. those on Academy's ration list, what others have you seen disappear? I haven't been able to find 17 HM2 aka 17 Mach 2 online or on shelves. Well it wasn't that prevalent on shelves anyway. Theory: limited expected demand = put the manufacturing of that round on the back burner.

So for whatever reason, add 17HM2 to the BOLO list.
 
Schofield's in Florence has .223 FMJ in 30 round boxes for $27.49. Looks like they have 100+ boxes on the shelf.

They also had .22 boxes, but I bought one of the last four or five on the shelf.
 
Basspro in Myrtle Beach had over 100 boxes of independence 5.56 20 round boxes for 10.97 each this afternoon when i was there...
 
Grady's in Anderson had a good bit of 22LR sitting out today. It was a few hours ago, but I think it was Remington subsonic and CCI quiet. Boxes of 50 were $4.00-$5.00 I didn't see any bulk packs.

Did Grady's have any reloading supplies such as 224 or 308 bullets?
 
Sorry, I don't reload so I didn't pay it any attention. I know that have some loading supplies in because it sits right next to the 22, but I couldn't tell you what kind of bullets they had.
 
Saw on their facebook page they got a good shipment in the other day.

Did you notice how the handgun ammo selection looked? 9mm in particular?
 
9mm was pretty decent, I picked up a couple of boxes of PMC Bronze just to fire off today with a friend. I don't remember seeing any gaps in the boxes for the 9mm. The 357sig was almost completely out and 40 S&W was completely out. I didn't look at 45 since I don't have anything to shoot it. Perhaps a sign to to get one :D
 
I was able to get 5 boxes of Federal .22 Magnum and 5 boxes of CCI .22LR subsonic from Gradys yesterday. Ordered online about noon, shipped in less than an hour, on truck for delivery today. Prices were a little high but reasonable considering what others are charging.
 
I was in Sharpshooters Indoor Range in Greenville last night and they have a much better supply of ammo and guns than I have seen in several months. They even had a few boxes of .22LR on the shelf.
They had quite a few nice new and used long guns for sale.

My wife bought me a membership there before they opened. It is a very nice facility if you have to shoot indoors and the people that work there are friendly as well. Shelves and racks seemed pretty full last weekend. If anyone ever wants to do a little indoor shooting there during the week let me know (I have some free range passes).
 
I also got a membership on opening day. I try to go at least once per week. I agree with MCA's comments. I have never had a bad experience there. Very friendly and helpful, but are pretty strict with range safety rules.
They have a limit of 200 memberships.
They now have a 5-6 page waiting list for memberships. I have two friends on the waiting list.
