Recently published memo / guidelines authorizing the assassination of US citizens using UAV drones.

Put simply, the government believes that a lethal drone attack against an American citizen is justified if the targets are a) "senior operational leaders" of al-Qaeda or b) "an associated force."

On it's face that doesn't seem so unreasonable or alarming. Until you begin to question what "an associated force" means today, means tomorrow and will mean in 10 years. Also think about exactly who is making that determination today or in the future.

The memo suggests that anyone who "present an 'imminent' threat of violent attack against the United States" qualifies for "a lawful killing in self defense," but that "does not require the United States to have clear evidence that a specific attack on U.S. persons and interests will take place in the immediate future." In other words, an "informed, high-level" official can order the killing of any American citizen that was "recently" involved in threatening "activities." As Isikoff points out, the memo fails to define both of those terms.

Sounds to me like cabinet members of Obama's White House can unilaterally order the assassination of US citizens without any 1) evidence or 2) review (checks & balances)

And there are people out there, and even here on this forum, that question the "need" for MANPADs and other weapons of war.

In case you haven't been paying attention during the past two tenures of Presidents, all kinds of new groups of people were added to "terror" lists.

Don't take my word for it. Let's consult the FBI.

Okay, count 'em up fellas. Should 'they' choose to, they could put me in more than one category. How 'bout you? WTF and Holy Crap!

Fienstien called all returning millitary personal, from deployment in war, "potential terrorists".

Because she knows combat experienced soldiers, especially those who have separated from the military, are some of the most likely to stand up against governmental tyranny.

PETA is a terrorist organization based on that chart (Single Issue Terrorists-Animal Rights). I KNEW IT! lol

Also the whole current administration is as well since LEFT WING TERRORISTS: "Political motivation is usually Marxist/Leninist philosophy". Go ahead and lock 'em all up.

What about that crossed hammer logo in the lower right corner- does that mean if you watched Pink Floyd: The Wall or listen to Pink Floyd in general you are some kind of terrorist? Uh-oh, I'm in deep doo doo now...

:?

Oh well, at least they will go after PETA and Greenpeace before me. I'm surrounded by too many people that the Demokrats depend on for voters- the collateral damage would be TOO costly for them!

Ah the slippery slope of the "patriot" act. I thought we were promised that it would only be used against foreign enemies that posed an immediate threat.

That is what we have waiting for us on the universal and expanded background checks. They will sell it as only for those that are criminals, insane or the criminally insane. Then they get to decide the definition of criminal and insane just like they define get to define enemy.

They will use Sandy Hook to do to the 2nd amendment what 9/11 did to the 4th and 5th amendments if we let them.

By posting on this site and others like it probably puts us all on "the list" :o

I look at the crossed hammers symbol at the bottom of the pamphlet and am reminded of the "Hammerskin Nation" symbol, a skinhead organization

I wish the Founding Fathers had given us some written guidance on how to take action against fellow Americans who need to be dealt with.

Oh, hang on, wait one second.

Article 3, Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

I'm probably meeting some DHS criteria for merely pointing out that the Constitution defines only one crime, that of treason, and tells us that it requires (1) the Congress to be involved and (2) the Courts (article 3 is the Judiciary) to be involved and gain a "conviction" based on witnesses or confession in OPEN court before (3) the Executive takes action. Maybe the Founders felt it was important to clearly define that particular crime for some reason because it was the only one that got specifically mentioned in the Constitution itself.

Maybe, 'cause you're already on the FBIs JTTF list..["Make numerous references to US Constitution"]. How dare you refer to the US Constitution! That's un-American. What are you, a commie? (sarcasm here, for those who don't get it).

I'm rarely on the same side as the ACLU but I agree on this one. This is out-of-control and their justification for it is simply weak and non-sensical. Does anyone see a pattern emerging? Step 1. Work to disarm American citizens as much as humanly possible. Step 2. Have the government identify just about anyone as "potential terrorists". Step 3. Authorize drone use against any American citizen who is suspected of plotting against the government, with no proof, no oversight, no judicial authorization or review and decided by whom? current unnamed anonymous administration officials?!? Had these elements been in place during Ruby Ridge and Waco, would they have used drones? Think about it!
