One of my favorites is my SA M1A NM. My next choice is my Galil Ace in 7.62x51.

The old lever gun probably the next best thing , although slow to reload and tough to carry much extra ammo !

Level guns in any caliber are great. I do love shooting 45 LC . Good choice

I own a Tavor, which I shoot as a lefty. 16" barrel in a very compact package. Somewhat heavy, but all the weight is in the rear, so they are pretty pleasant to shoot offhand.

Surprised no one has mentioned the FAL. Decent accuracy and mine has been 100% reliable over thousands of rounds.
