Just returned from the range. I had to shoot at the 7 yard line, since there was a couple people at the 25 yard line. It took about 75 rounds to get back in the swing of shooting, since it has been over 2 months.

The fit and finish is very nice on the gun. The bobtailed GS with no beavertail I knew was going to be a potential issue when I bought it. I have a pretty pronounced web and grip the pistol high and tightly. The blunt end did dig into my dainty hands

Not a big deal, since this is a carry gun not a range toy.

I put ~225 rounds through it of various types (RN, JHPs) I believe all we're 230 grain. I had 1 FTF that was ammo related (a knick on the rim of the case that hung up on the ramp). No other failures.

It did have a varied ejection pattern. Most were at 2 o'clock but went to about 5 o'clock. No brass to the face.

Overall, it does what it is supposed to. It is a reliable, pretty accurate carry gun for ~$3,000.00

I agree with Bender that this is an excellent pistol at the price point. I have owned WCs, NHCs, GI and numerous custom 1911s and it holds it own with any semi custom I've shot.

Here is a picture of the last 5 mags shooting fast (not mag dump fast, but close)

Meh.........
Sweet.....I thought that some may get bit with the lack of a beavertail.
The old WWII Colts with the GI hammers always bit me.

Thanks for your thoughts on this model.

I shifted my grip to the old thumb under safety version and had no bites. I really didn't get bit with my thumb on top of the safety, but found myself thinking about it after 20 rounds. Otherwise, my experience was pretty much the same as ThePlumber's. Some folks may find that the hammer pokes them in the side or tends to snag their shirt when carrying in Condition 1. Rob offered to bevel the sharp edges if desired if I sent him the hammer. So far I don't see the need to.

My experience was not hammer or slide bite. It was the corner of the frame tang digging in and rubbing that area during recoil. I checked multiple times while shooting and the slide and hammer were not the culprit. Most likely just my hand anatomy combined with the bobbed GS.

Tough choices are afoot. Hmmm. Sell sell sell dang I hate selling stuff.
I agree. Have sold a lot of guns that I really didn't care that much for, and don't regret. However, I sold a Colt Python that I wish I had back. I used it to kill a Boar a number of years ago in TN. Still have the shoulder holster I carried it in, but no longer have the gun, and a beauty it was.

Not sure if it's the gun or you. Good target. I would guess that you would do pretty good with just about any pistol.

I am struggling between 2 choices for my first NHC acquisition, then I see the Prime.
Talk about real world issues.
I thank Mr. Bender for this. Read his review on his NHC Classic. Okay, sounds really good. Start reading up on this, okay really, really good. Now I just got through reading about his Prime. Okay, sounds really good. Start reading up on this, okay really, really good....

Personally, I like the Prime a bit more than the Nighthawk.

Both are phenomenal pistols. However, both are quite different. I think the Prime shoots better, as in I shoot it better. I believe this is due to the very high grip cut, it just feels VERY smooth. The Prime was a good bit cheaper than the classic as well.

A hard call, but, I believe I wouldn't have bought the Classic if I had already owned the Prime.
