Hey all. I'm a retired California LEO now living the free life in southern Utah. Army Artillery veteran (non combat and very much non spec ops. Just a gun bunny in a straight leg infantry division).
I only started competition shooting last October with USPSA. My first taste of 3 Gun was at the 2013 Hard as Hell match last December. In spite of the snow and getting my butt handed to me I was hooked from the very first stage. With the current tumult in USPSA I'm even more certain that 3 Gun is my drug of choice.
I've had the opportunity to train pistol with Ron Avery and rifle with Keith Garcia. I've been sniveling at Jessie over on another forum about a shotgun class but, alas, to no avail
I'm gonna keep trying though.
My current set up is a DPMS 3G2 (surprisingly good) with a Vortex Viper PST, a Glock 35 (and occasionally a 17) and a Stoeger M3500 with a Nordic +6 and a 24" barrel (thanks for the tip Jessie). I'm saving my pennies for something from JP and I don't even have to hide it from my wife. She doesn't compete but she shoots very well and comes to all my matches where she fusses over me and the rest of the squad while also taping and resetting on every stage. She has all her own gear, including a Benelli shotgun, an AR I built for her and an XDm 5.25. She shoots for fun only but man can she shoot! And no, she doesn't have a sister
I'm running Taccom Load 2s though I intend to master load 4 just as soon as I can master load 2! Gear is kydex by a local manufacturer, Tac-Tech-Cal.
I'm always looking for advice, tips and training.
I'm finally starting to turn my sights outside my local area. I'd love to start shooting matches away from home. Never won a match though I won't stop trying.
Great to be here and looking forward to interacting with and learning from all of you.
