3/27/2011 USSA Rifle match

150 per weapon - Rifle and Pistol? How many mags would I need? I have 2x17rd for my 9mm and 2x30rd and 2x5rd for my AK - Iron sights only, but can put some optics if needed (have a crappy red dot or a little 4x scope - but prefer iron sights) - sighted and accurate at 100m. The AK has a single point sling, adjustable stock, vertical foregrip/bipod

Is this a go or no go - btw, decocker on the pistol is a bit iffy, but safety is working - can manually decock before holstering vs auto decock.

I think it is just rifle, some of the guys are asking about 2 guns but as far as I know it is not confirmed that there will be 2. I assume that the 2-30 round mags will be enough.

Do you want to split gas cost and carpool with me? Noble is not too far from me.

This is just a rifle match. The guys asking about 2 guns want to shoot centerfire and rimfire,

I was asking if I could shoot both rimfire and Centerfire rifle. Not pistol. Not sure if we will be using the "long range" bay (2-300 yards). Irons are ok if not using that bay.

The bipod and sling usually aren't necessary unless you're trying to get extra points for being tscticool. I've learned they don't do that. But I still try! I am still taking applications for Team ATAS. Must be ATAS or at least tacticool.

Bring what you got. It's a great match. Low pressure and very new guy friendly. Hope to see you there!

I'd love to try a 2/300yd shot with the iron sights on my AK - Sling is just a single point that allows me to carry it muzzle down on my shoulder - Grip turns into bipod - adds some weight but comfortable. I'd like to get an Angled Foregrip but prone 2/300 would be an idea situation for a bipod!

JP take it from the guy that has bought one if everything. Don't buy anything until you shoot a few more matches.

Yep. Bring what you got. You never know what works and what doesn't until you get out and actually use it.

Ok, maybe I've missed it somewhere (I apologize if I did), but can somebody link up the match rules as well as equipment regs?

I've been hunting for a rifle-only match, but I only own 3 rifles, a 10/22 (fun, but not what I want to compete with) and 2 LR-308s. I have a muzzle brake (not installed yet) and I'm waiting on my hydraulic recoil buffer to come in stock and ship because I'm trying to work on quicker follow-ups. Because of that, prior commitments, and the fact that I just found out about this match approximately 4 minutes ago it's just too soon of notice for me, even to spectate. But, it sounds like the perfect match for me to make my competition debut. I shoot with irons only and if this "house" is what's shown in Wormy's first-person POV cam, then I am certain this is the type of match for me.

Am I correct in saying this is the same house? If so, is .308 acceptable? It seemed Wormy made several shots above eye level so I'd be concerned with penetration.

What's a 360 bay? What's the rooftop aspect of it? That part sounds very interesting.

If you want to shoot 2 guns it will be $5 to add it. Longest range will be 100 on 8" or 12" plates, on this same range there will be clays at 25 and 50, all shot from a roof top prop.
Danny, bring you 10/22 and some mags. The shoot house will handle 308 (no armor piercing or tracer).

Everything I have on the AK is what I purchased over the years. I've been toying around with the idea of an angled foregrip even before competing came to mind. I was going to purchase a Draco before I made the purchase of my 9mm but they were sold out and the price had gone up. The AFG would have been cool for the draco, but probably still not legal without a stamp for the ATF. I am much much much much more comfortable with my AK - or any rifle - vs handguns. Up until now I may have went through at most 100 rounds combined for all the handguns I have shot in my lifetime. In one week, I have went through 3 times that much on my 9mm. I'll get there on that, but if the rifle matches follow the same format as the handgun, I should be like night and day!

The Draco is a Pistol. No Tax Stamp needed

True the Draco is a pistol, but by the ATF definition, a pistol is made to be fired with one hand - meaning no vertical grips or grip attachments (depending on how loosely you read into it) but you take your risk with Federal Laws and Federal Prison with no chance for parole.
