There's a New Game in Town, and it starts this Saturday at the River Range
 
Welcome to .22 Extreme.  The brain child of Ken Butler, this is modeled after the Pro Am handgun matches, but is for .22 cal only.
 
Bill Striplin, Jr.  was appointed Club Director of this sport, and is ready for the first match.
 
Here's an overview of how this will be played.
 
FIREARM:  Rifle or handgun in .22 cal Long Rifle only.  Separate Divisions for iron sights, optics, or Hunter for tube fed or revolvers.  If you want, you may sign up to shoot the match with both rifle and handgun.  They will be scored separately, so they don't have to be in the same Division.
 
STAGES:  Each stage will consist of reactive steel targets, and they are small.  Average will be about 28 targets per stage.  Par Time will be used.  When the start signal goes off, you will have a limited time to hit as many targets as possible.  When the stop signal goes off, any shot beyond 0.3 seconds will incur a penalty.  Average Par Time will be around 18 econds.  Shoot 'em quick, but try not to miss.
 
The match this Saturday will consist of 5 stages, plus a tie breaker.  The match will be shot on the handgun bays on the South end of the River Range.
 
SCORING:  The shooter's score will be the total number of steel plates knocked down, plus any bonus hits, minus any penalties.
 
RULES:  A preliminary draft of the Rules for this game are attached.  Only 3 pages, so please read them before the match.  Note that this is the preliminary draft, and some things may have changed, but the general outline will be the same.
 
COST:  Future matches will cost $10 for the first gun, plus $5 for a second gun.  But wait, call within the next 10 minutes and receive.......   Sorry, wrong promotion.
 
Grand Opening, Introductory Special !!   This one is correct.  Members of Old Fort Gun Club always shoot their first organized match in any of the established sports for free.   To get everyone introduced to this new sport, ALL shooters, including non members, on this Saturday will shoot the match for FREE !!.  A second gun this Saturday will cost $5 for everyone.
 
 
Set up for the match this Saturday will start at 8:00 AM.  Please, come out and help get things started, and earn credit towards your Range Maintenance fee.  Shooters meeting will be at 9:30 AM, and shooting will start shortly thereafter.

This new game is going to be fast and fun.  At the same time, you'll learn about trigger control, target transition and acquisition, and other skills that will make you a better all round shooter.
