2014 Area 3/MO State Multigun Championship

I took 10th overall of 75 shooters. Failure to engage several targets on one stage put me at 55th for that stage. There's a lesson there, kids. Don't shoot faster than you can think.

Today was the first time I've ever wished I didn't go shooting. Not because of the match, it was great. I literally had gun problems every stage but 2. Congrats to the winners! Time to do some rifle trouble shooting.

It seemed like lots of people were having rifle issues yesterday. One fella on my squad got so fed up he stopped shooting completely. "Voluntary DNF" he said. I also got my ass handed to me in the man on man shootoff when I went against Dillen Easley. I knew I would lose against him. hell, I had enough trouble in the first and second rounds, both against guys named Bye. What strange names.

Wish I coulda been there, I was planning on going til my back put me out :hang: (S I joint).
Guess I could have squadded with Dillon, he could have fixed me up between stages.

At least til I started beating him . . . . :sarcastichand:

Most people don't have there gas up high enough for when it's that cold outside. I thought that is what I had going on but that wasn't the case.

If adjustable gas blocks are that finicky, count me out. If a 40 or 50 degree variation in temperature makes a difference, I guess I'm lucky that I'm not good enough to need something that delicate.

Ive never had a problem before. Even when shooting in the cold. My rifle had a bunch of crap inside of the bolt. Where it came from I don't know.

If you are worried about gas block adjustment put your ammo in the freezer before going to the range to tune it. I tuned my gun when it was 20* outside so I have never had an issue. Reliability is also going to depend on how close the ragged edge you wanna run when its hot outside. If you tune for your gas block at 90* and it will barely lock back chances are its not gonna function at lower temperatures. If you run an adjustable system you gotta be smart enough to account for climate change.

Basically what he said. Mine turned out not to be temp related. Now I gotta reset my gas system cause I opened it up trying to get it running.
