Unfortunately, a previous IDPA club in OKC set the standard for dangerous gunhandling.
There were cases of folks pointing their gun at the targets while people were still taping them, unsafe angles of fire where the bullets cleared the indoor backstop (and ignored those pointing it out)
But the capper was when someone shot a stage, supposedly unloaded and showed clear before he went to the "safe" room and fired a round thru the wall. If the owner had been at his copy machine, he'd have been hit, possibly killed.
Wait, that wasn't the capper.....the WTF moment was when they didn't send that person home! In fact, he was allowed to finish the match.
I stopped attending that match before that incident, so it's second hand. But I did see the bullet hole in the wall.
Happily, that club is defunct and the guy running it hasn't been heard from in awhile. But it could be that folks remember crap like that and are holding you to an even higher safety standard.
