Church concealed carry

There's a reason off duty officers work security at churches. Don't be a victim and don't wish you "had" the rest of your life.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that churches (and probably other places of worship) are on the list of prohibited places for concealed weapons in OK. If you want to where your gun to a Church to worship Christ the Prince of Peace, move to Texas (please).

Negative

If you want to wear your gun to a Church to worship Christ the Prince of Peace, move to Texas (please).

I don't see how the two are related (carrying and worshiping) but we all make the decisions that we feel best for us and our families

Burk is correct about the first point, and I am confused about your sentiment on the second.

Churches are high value targets both to nut jobs and terrorists. Both of those groups of people would assume a church to be filled with unarmed easy prey. Aside from the obvious threat posed by Islamic radicals who have mentioned churches along with shopping malls and schools as target rich environments, many unstable persons have lashed out against churches in one form or another. The idea of "Blaming God" is sometimes present.

The idea of having a weapon on my person at Mass is so profane to me I might as well stand up during the Liturgy of the Eucharist and yell F**k!

What about carrying a weapon in church do you think would be profane? Not trying to start an argument, just trying to understand your point.

I'm sorry sir, but I don't understand this either. The Bible has much to say about things that are profane vs. things that are Holy - none have to do with any form of defensive weapon that I know of. Maybe you have a scripture verse that could back this up...

If this is truly what you think, then to carry concealed in the world but refuse to do so church is a compromise of integrity.

To paraphrase: It's not what goes into a man's hiolster that defiles him, but that which comes from his heart.

I'm sorry, but...BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!

Ahem, now that that's over...I truly agree. It is a double standard to live one way outside of the walls of your church nut then act differently inside the church. Kinda like the ones who talk like a normal, everyday guy at home and work, but when they are asked to pray in church they suddenly talk like a founding father - "thees" and "thous" and all that. To be OK with concealed carry in public places or at home but not at church is just that - a double standard!

You could have intervened when I was accused of having no integrity and lived by double standards, or when a blogger posted his interpretation of the Bible.

Carrying a gun in church? Really, what's the point? I'm done. bye bye.

I probably should have but I hoped it would work itself out.

My comment was not directed at you but at the whole thread. I shouldn't have quoted your comment. I will fix that.

Now, let's talk guns.

wow this got bad fast... so i will try to get this back on topic... anyone got any funny stories when someone hugged them and they felt the gun??

I believe it was Lt Col Grossman (of "On Killing" fame) who related the story of a class he was presenting to LEOs. The conversation turned to this very topic and an officer announced that he would never be caught unarmed during services. When asked why he told the story of an officer friend of his who disarmed himself prior to a service during which several people were shot by some lunatic. The officer recounted the abject terror he felt at being helpless to stop the attack swiftly. The cop in Grossman's class asked something to the effect of "Can you imagine ever feeling like that?"

I have bus kids that want to hug me from time to time, I just keep one arm alongside the gun, usually works fine. Funniest thing to happen was a church kid who went running down the hall, which he shouldn't have been doing anyway, and he clipped me. Well, more like he clipped my gun, with his head. You should have seen the look on his face as he walked off holding his head, he thought I had the hardest hip in the world!
