Is a Sig Fast-Back MSH the standard dimensions, in the dimensions that are standard? I like round butts and I cannot lie, I'm having some thoughts...........

Yes and no.

Installing a Sig fast-back would be like installing a Brown bobtailed mainspring housing. The pin needs relocated and the excess frame material needs to be removed and blended. Other than that, it is a just like installing any other MSH.

Thanks, I do know about the relocation of the pin hole and rounding of the frame. Just didn't know if it 'fit' the rest of the way around. Didn't want to spend money unnecessarily.

Well, nearly no 1911 part is a completely drop in. Some minor filing or peening may be needed to achieve a proper fit. With that being said, I think it will fit fine. I helped a neighbor install an EGW mainspring housing in her Sig and it fit perfectly.

The fast back profile of the Sig ms housing is a bit different than the ed Brown. DW used to use Ed Brown, but now have their own profile as well. At one time I had a bunch of different ones here. Kimber makes a SS with just vertical lines in it, in as and carbon I believe that is an actual round butt. Closer to the style found on the S&W E series scandium. Don't know where S&W get there's called them on 3 different occasions and never could get a straight forward answer and nobody would ever really make the effort to find out for me.

Kimber also makes a plastic MSH. Between that and their "solution" to the frame cracks above the slide stops, (just cutting that portion of the frame away. No frame, no crack.) I stopped using anything that says "Kimber" on it.

Not a big fan of Kimber myself but their SS round butt ms housing I got awhile back for a conversion was pretty decent. It was actually a surprise delivery however as the original order the lady claimed she was sending me a plastic one, but when it arrived it was SS and had vertical serrations, one of the few times a mistake on an order was made that I didn't say a word lol. I remember being turned off by Kimber early on for 2 reasons.. Their alum feed ramps on their PRO CDP and the plastic mainspring housings. I mean it's different if it's a $450 RIA, but a $1200-$1500 gun with Plastic ms housing no thank you, and don't even get me started on their BTGS lol.

They been building them old boys for awhile now.. What I have recently found to be very interesting is they now have a TCM rifle. And instead of 2800 FPS like advertised out of the pistol they are saying it was either 3250 or 3500 fps on that bad boy. Only come with a 5 round mag, but says the TCM pistol mags fit in it.

They've had the rifle out for a while and I do believe the double stack pistol mags fit! I was going to find one but other things always pop up in the place where that purchase would make sense!
What am I thinking? Like any of my purchases make sense!! I just sold a hinderer knife two weeks ago and just bought another one just like it today, why? Just because I missed it in my collectiono_O

PS: if the rifle was semi auto instead of bolt action it would be much higher on my list. That little round with 17+1 in a rifle would be awesome!

I don't doubt they are feeling out the market with the single shot bolt action to see the response they may very well come out with a semi-auto before long. I believe it would make a heck of a varmint rifle and probably a ton of fun to shoot. If only the ammo wasn't so expensive. Have to wonder though if they won't end up going the way of the .357 sig caliber and just not catch on well. Time will tell I suppose.

Yeah...Bender is spot on....I change out all my MSH's to arched ones (with and without magwells)....I don't think I've ever had one completely "drop in" without having to fit it some how....

If you don't want to relocate the pinhole...you can always look at the "round butt" MSH's....you'd have to do a little filing on the frame to get it to blend, but it's an alternative...
