The 10 mm is what I carry as well in bear country. We travel a lot in griz country where I'm most concerned when on a trail hiking.
Used to carry the Ruger Stainless Redhawk in .44 mag in a shoulder holster, but it's so danged heavy and only has 6 shots.
In reality, during a bear charge, one is probably not going to get off 6, but the 10mm gets one back on target quicker.
Big fan of the Underwood solid coppers for penetration.
