I bought a Glock 17 in 9mm. I didn't think I would ever cross that line. I hope I haven't let John Moses Browning down. Here's the reason I did it:

If I'm ever faced with a self defense situation in my home that requires me to discharge a firearm, the gun will certainly be taken into evidence. Would I rather one of my prized 1911's has to go to gun purgatory or a cheap, but functional dog chew toy? I think I would rather let the dog chew toy go on that vacation.

If it were one of my 1911's, at best, it wouldn't be handled like I handle it. I just know it would come back with some sort of damage.

So, I see the Glock as a bit of 1911 insurance. There you go.....that's what they're good for.

Funny....this site doesn't even recognize the name. It keeps changing it to Block.:D

I got a Glock just because Obiden kept on talking about banning standard capacity magazines... And almost every time he mentions it, I order another standard capacity magazine. :D

@AZ Husker That is a very nice bedside setup! I hate to think how deaf I would be if I ever had to shoot indoors.

A Glock is a tool, a 1911 is a tool touched by God and me (not to be fondled by an evidence room attendant)...that being said, I have one (G19 and some other fun 9mm's) in the house specifically for Heretics and Unbelievers.. (Heretic for breaking the commandment Thou Shall Not Steal from/Murder/Rape/Bother me or mine; Unbeliever for thinking I would not pull the trigger until my slide locks back...and I love mass capacity mags in HD tools). Oh Lord, how liberating it feels to mention 1911's and Glocks in the same sentence and knowing it will not start a flame war with one fan side or another.

Whew.

I don't think 6 Hail Mary's is gonna square away these confessions.

While I do understand the ramifications of a post incident weapons seizure.....I just don't want to be known to my grandkids and my great grandkids as a Glock Guy.

If the law ever seized a Glock from my house they would never find 12 jurors here in Kerr County that would believe it.

I don't broadcast it to my local gun buddies. I would get several undesirable and probably profane nicknames if I did. I don't really care about the gun. It has no personality like a 1911 does. However, it is functional and my wife can handle it better than a 1911. She has very feminine hands (I like that). If something happened to it, I would have an "OH WELL" attitude about it.

NOT SO, with my 1911's.
