So, I have no earthly idea how this happened. I'm embarrassed to even ask this! I TAKE CARE of my possessions. I keep my two-tone Kimber Pro Carry II in its blue Kimber ziplock plastic baggie in its case. A small, about 2mm. long surface scratch, on the matte black top, near the front top of the ejector port has appeared. Not to the metal, in fact, since I haven't even gotten a chance to shoot it yet, due to upcoming surgery on my dominant arm, I "assume" it either, was there, and I didn't see it (not likely), or, the roughness of the inside of the blue bag, there was supposed to be a second clear bag in the blue Kimber logo bag, but my gun never came with it. Or: the plastic orange flag, or the white plastic ID tag attached to the trigger guard, was missing as well. Did I buy a used gun as new? IDK, but I wonder. But there is no wear on the gun anywhere to suggest it's used. Again, IDK, but I paid full retail from a Kimber dealer. IDK.
Anyway, is there some "touch-up" dark flat black paint I can use a tiny/fine paint brush to cover it? Is this SOOO anal? YES!!! Guilty as charged! It just bothers me! Any ideas? I took a picture of it attached, and under strong light, it does look like it went down to the metal, but it didn't. Any products to touch up scratches on painted pistol surfaces? Yes, this is a REALLY LONG post about basically nothing. Forgive me. Just asking if there is an easy/quick/cheap solution. Than you for putting up, with me! See the small scratch? NEXT 1911 will be all stainless steel!!! NO MORE KIMPRO finished guns!!!D1F1AADE-852E-439A-BC3D-124DC4A37995.jpeg

Just box wear, you would faint looking at my Wilson, STI or Swenson I have them to use not to just look at no offense intended nor implied there Don't compete with it if holster draws are done!! Over the years it works as fine sandpaper leather or Kydex both. Stainless steel will do the same or worse I have a Para P14 10 times worse than yours all over it, all just from use. Try a soft eraser. or just use it as intended and be thankful you have it. If you dont the next owner will

Asking for my friend here did you buy the Kimber to be a safe queen or to use? Try storing it in a thick cotton sock that will cut down on wear and use cotton gloves to handle it as some do.

Both actually Kimber's finish has to be the absolute worst for wear! Didn't know that till I bought it! I just like my things to look as nice as possible. I clay brick my car before waxing so the paint is baby-ass smooth. (clay bricking your car's paint before waxing is fantastic!) Try it sometime! Yes, it's anal. I know.. I just wondered if there was a way to cover it up. I realize I'll get more scratches on it In the future. It's brand new, cannot shoot it because of surgery on my neck and dominant arm. Was bought to cheer me up. Not anal enough to wear cotton gloves! LOL! I liked your response. Made me laugh! Now, how the hell do I make it go away!

None taken!! I tried a new pencil eraser, no joy. The top of the slide is matte black, as in the picture, not brushed smooth finish, like the sides of the slide, so the eraser didn't do squat. It was bought to cheer me up from my surgery, as I said to STI's funny reply, he made me laugh! I have three guns for work, this was just for target use, not a "work" gun. As I said, Kimber's finish is WAY too easy to scratch! A kydex holster, I KNOW, would massively screw it up in one draw! First and last Kimber. This gun will never see a holster. Was an impulse buy to cheer me up. Bought it new at a great discount. Wasn't planning on actually buying it. So it thanks me for adopting it by scratching itself!! BAD GUN! Go sit in the corner!!

You would cry looking at mine closely at the wear on them both Wilson and STI the end of the slides have zero finish much missing from top also, several ways to fix it
#1 sell it and replace with another
#2 have pistol refinished
either will solve the issue then get a new one and never remove it from original box not shoot it, will admit you got me looking at mine again compared mine are very scratched and worn looking also all my S&W revolvers are to but look at the good times I had getting them to look like that! I do have a PARA TAC-4 LDA that is 99%+ I rarely ever shoot, my worst for wear has to be a COLT Gen Officers I carried daily for 5-6 years in all weather it has the original or had military finish.

LOOK AT THE HOLSTER WEAR ON MY OLD 44! Many trips to the woods on that one. The grips have a chip missing on the rear as a friend let his wife shoot it and dropped it on a rock admit I got me but with the 56 vintage original grips sn numbered to it cant change them, still have box and all accessories that came with it, 2 digit sn# under 90. The 66 was an issued to me revolver I was given with name engraved on other side.

Just saw a video of the champion 1911 shooter for Para, never heard of Para. I assume they are MEGA expensive 1911's! He could shoot a playing card in half! Sideways! Amazing to watch! NEVER seen advertising for Para. Must be a boutique 1911 company.

Not gonna sell it, I like the trigger, the lock-up is SOLID! Frame to slide fit is solid as well. Unlike the more expensive Colt I looked at, and the cheaper Ruger 1911. And the Ruger's slide to frame was loose as well. Nothing against Ruger, it just had loose lock-up and slide to frame looseness. But, inexpensive 1911. I just thought there was a paint somebody could recommend to cover it, that's all. It's NOT the end of the world. Most wouldn't notice it, now that I do, it's like an eyesore I see every time I take it out to practice dry firing it with 45 snap-caps. That's all I can do until my surgery heals.

Another question, the small screw in the bottom of the trigger, to adjust take-up, how do you adjust it? Or, just leave it alone? Do you guys adjust your trigger screw?? Or not?

The low brow solution is a black sharpie and some finger rubbing. It will make the scratch indistinguishable to anyone but yourself.

Maybe Kimber will step back up to what it once was with the move down south. I have what you might call a Gen 1 70 series (no II on it) 5" Classic Stainless Target that shoots remarkably well. Pachmayer grips and an STI Recoil Master set up make it a fairly soft shooting .45acp. Good luck with your pistol.

The trigger screw is to take up the slack in the take up. I wouldn't really recommend changing it until you have enough rounds down range to not have accidental finger twitches. It may take 10K rounds to muscle memorize your way out of that. I still do it once in a thousand rounds or so.

VERY NICE!! I love revolvers as well. When I started college, we lived in a very sketchy apartment, all we poor college students could afford. Being the very first pistol I EVER bought, I bought a 357 mag. blued Taurus revolver. Total OVERKILL! But at 18 y.o., I had no idea what to buy. I took it to the range, and instead of buying 38 special rounds, I bought two boxes of 357 mag. What a cannon! Holy crap! Very nicely made! Wish I still had it! It was very accurate! But SO LOUD! NOT the gun to buy for an apartment! But I didn't know. I just knew we had a guy scare the crap out of us, standing and staring at us thru our bedroom window at 3 a.m. I thought I needed to protect myself! This was a little before Glock came out with the Glock 9mm. Model 17. I bought one of the first ones, in the old Tupperware box. Good times! College was great! 1989- 92.

Tried that, the black perm. sharpie's ink has a dark blue tinge, didn't match the black paint. Didn't work. But I tried it, hoping it would work. I guess since nobody has any other Ideas, I'll try model paint next. Stupid post. Embarrassed I asked. No biggie. The election has my FULL attention now! Screw the scratch on the gun. I'm sure it won't be the last! THAN YOU for your post to my silly question. And I won't futz with the trigger screw! Still trying to learn all I can about 1911's.
God bless you RSCamaro!

Not for take up but for over travel mine were adjusted where I liked it and lock tite applied, all probably listed in owners book, many that I knew would not carry a 1911 with a trigger with over travel adjustment. Adjust with correct size allen wrench.

Poor gun, no holster wear. Send it out for a refinish then put it back in the safe well oiled and you can enjoy looking at it.
I shoot mine and love the holster wear on them.

I've been wanting a Dan Wesson Specialist for the last 3 years, (a grail gun for me). Finally got one in June. I can't tell you the amount of wear already on the slide from the THOUSANDS of holster draws between dry fire and competition use. I actually think it adds character. LOL. If I worried about wear and scratches all my guns would be safe queens.

Wikipedia statement:
Para USA (Para) was an American-owned firearms manufacturer. It was the successor to Para-Ordnance, founded in Canada in 1985. It specialized in making M1911-style semi-automatic pistols and components. The company was acquired by Remington Outdoor Company in 2012. In 2015, the Para brand ceased production and was folded into Remington.

Wikipedia has a pretty good write-up on their products and history.

Birch wood Casey Perma Blue should cover any scratch / wear on the Kimber Pro Carry ll. After 3 years of edc I've used it on mine to cover holster wear. Follow directions- it's very simple. About $10 at your local sports outlet or on line.

(Note to others: It does NOT work on stainless steel but works on most other "blued" and similar finishes.

Leave it alone! You are being silly about this.

If you want a perfect gun, store it properly and take it out for pictures. Otherwise, just shoot it now that it's scratched. Take it to classes and run it hard. 1911's look great with wear! Here is a Nighthawk Firehawk with IOS used and tested by Sage Dynamics:
