I live in Pennsylvania, and I can walk into a gun shop, fill out some paperwork, and wait while they do my background check w/ NICS over the phone. If everything is Ok, then I can walk out w/ the gun. The entire process, once I have selected the gun, takes 15 mins or so. If I buy a gun at a Gun Show, the process remains the same, including the background check.

Same in Massachusetts

Most of you seem to act like this is OK.

Registration equals confiscation always. Some gun users act like beaten wives just thankful not to be killed. And don't get me started on ammo registration......

Those of you on here who have been lifetime collectors have to be laughing at people that discovered waiting periods and registration and hoops to jump through yesterday.

For myself, I am COMPLETELY unsympathetic. These are either people that do not vote or have paid no attention to who and what they were voting for for decades. THESE IDIOTS ARE THE REASON OUR RIGHTS HAVE BEEN RESTRICTED!

Have to run to the store for toilet paper and ammo? It is to laugh!.........It's not gun owners I see running to the store(s). It's clueless idiots that suddenly get religion.

But........that's entertainment!

Now, now John...We have newbies to the field. An awakening you might say, for many(but not all). It's up to us Timers to spread the word as to how it used to be, should be, & suppose to be. I get a chuckle myself seeing two women fighting for the last roll of toilet paper, or the guy with a lot of dough buying a $5000 barrett that can't tell you how to load it. There are honest sincere Americans that just need a little Constitutional guidance education. It's up to us as American Patriots to see that it is available to those who want to listen.

To get my first long gun, it took about 15 minutes. its about the same or less for a long gun right now in New York.

My first handgun took a few months. Being from New York, where government doesn't trust the citizenry, it can take awhile. I've had to wait anywhere from 13 days to 7 weeks to get my green sheet of paper and updated license card.

If NICS says hold, it is now a 30 day waiting period from the normal 3 day peroid.

Jonvenzuela, congratulations on your choice of a 1911 for your handgun, Practice well and often with it. Slow concentrated dry fire and a slow trigger press, on a daily basis will do more for your accuracy than just about any other type of training. Good luck.

Thank you. Unfortunately, our country (Philippines) was put on quarantine because of the coronavirus and my 1911 was in the last step of registration when this all happened and the gunshops are all closed. We are on lockdown, no businesses are open except for banks, pharmacies, markets and groceries. I hope this ends soon and without any civil unrest or bloodshed. I have enough supplies for 3 weeks, my wife is pregnant with our firs child, one of her friends lent us a bike which I can use to get additional supplies if needed, we each have a gasmask and I have protective eyewear I have a crossbow with 4 bolts, 2 small folding knives and 1 big butterfly knife, and luckily I have a work from home job so my cashflow doesn't get disrupted and my wife works for the government so we're covered financially, and I was an amateur mma fighter, but I would feel much better if my 1911 had made it out of the registration process in time. I'll post about the situation if there are any changes. In the meantime, if you are also in quarantine, check out my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCip81noOMBMoTcta5R8_Qgg?view_as=subscriber for workouts you can do at home, gaming content, and I think one of my old fights is there, not sure.. Anyways I hope this isn't the last time I post something here, hopefully, my next post will be about my spanking new 1911. Peace.. Stay safe and stay healthy

Finally was able to pick up my gun yesterday! Fired off a few rounds at the range before bringing her home, she's all I hoped she'd be :)

Here in socialistic, communistic Illinois it is 3 days. So glad we'll be leaving soon for Texas.
Glad you finally were able to pick up your new one.. On waiting times for me in MI if I apply at my LGS its a three day wait due to the back up of apps. That being the case I just walk into my local police station and leave with my purchase permit after 10 minutes.

My amusement is those just talking of reloading now and waited till they cant get components to do it, they waited a tad to late but some have seen the light thankfully a new friend of mine has from here thankfully, we have a group all looking daily for items in stock at our club with a text notice when someone finds some at an affordable price which is the key to it all we all order instantly, in my life I have never seen the out of stocks like they are now, factory ammo is obtainable if you want it by just going to the right places on delivery days. Just ask them when their truck arrives and go early. I have a non re loader friend here that goes every Thursday am early, he used to buy components and load here but cant find any now. I have never seen the amount of shooting at my club as high as it is now which is a surprise, but a almost daily supply of once fired brass for free.

It's one of the few reasons I still live in Pa. If they ever change it back to what it was in the '80's I'm gone.

What the hell happened ti Illinois anyway....
The state of Illinois is run by Democrats. They want to confiscate all private ownership of firearms and if that doesn't work they want total control for licensing as well as transfer of firearms and purchase as well as ammuntion. Articles will deny this but reality is they want a total Socialist or Communist like Government running things here. Sadly things get worse every day. The state is broke and in debt beyond repair. Regardless that is why our house is on the market waiting to be sold and we are out of here. Such a shame after we have lived here all our lives and are continuing to support political thieves and many people in Chicago who have for several generations refused to work because they are getting a free ride. Pathetic waste of time and human life. It is their choice. Goodbye Illinois...
