The 300 is a friend's project Not sure if he is going to surpress it or not, pistol with adjustable brace with the amount he shoots weekly for me I would have not gone with the 300, he has a Ruger 9mm carbine, still with that not my interest, will shoot 100% cast bullets in it we cast so that will for sure help. Guessing about .05 a round finished cost. All tool heads and dies, brass etc already bought.

The cost of ammo when you cast your own bullets staggering, I would probably mixup the ammo if I had a 300 so I'm staying away from one. I do have a Ruger PC9 I use for 2 gun at one of the ranges in my area in pcc division, enjoyed it more than I thought I would, not as much fun as my AR but not bad. Pistol only matches still my favorite by far, just getting feet wet in USPSA, IDPA been the main thing for several years, gotta spread my wings a little before they get to old to spread

That's awesome! Hope you do well! Got my second USPSA match this Saturday, got humbled last Saturday, the speed of those match's, lot faster pace than IDPA, got to step it up! Hope the weather good for you! I tried 3 gun several years back and just to much to get competitive with 3 platforms, 2 gun much more fun and I bet the 8" is a hoot!

I have dope cards for all our distances we shoot both 9mm & 5.56, they said 200 rounds with carbine, handgun unknown at this time, if dry will shoot Para P14, STI or Wilson 45, wet then Glock 17 also will see if single stack friendly or not, I know I would be the only one with a 45 if so, it is looking like a good weather day as of now for a
change, tomorrow a fishing day finally depending on wind. Like child waiting on Christmas every
time! Come on Sat.

We started as I have said I think in the early 2000's shooting IDPA but with some rule changes they made and such almost all of us dropped out we still have 1 club member that is a member, also club dropped it to.

Sounds like gonna be a great match, we are similar in some of our choices including the Glock 17 as the go to nasty weather choice. For CPSL(Carolina Practical Shooting League)this only at one range, Greenville Gun Club, kinda like USPSA but looser, 2 hits on paper A,B or C, just a speed game but nice change of pace, for this use Remington R1 Limited, double stack similar to your Para but mine in 9mm, 19 round mags, gonna use this this Saturday for USPSA and for upcoming 2 gun, IDPA use either Kimber for CDP or Desert Eagle in 9mm for ESP division. I think your 2 gun more challenging than mine, Greenville match 25-30 yards max most of time, they use small targets, either 4x4 steel or clay skeet targets, sometimes they set a stage at 50, this I use pcc on, Anderson 2 gun 25-50 yds, use my BCM here, thank goodness dope not needed or I'd be lost, just no experience past 100 yds, have red dots and magnifier on both. IDPA only thing single stack friendly and I get the rule change thing, there are 7-8 of us that always squad together for IDPA and most of them are IDPA only, maybe a 2 Gun every now and then. We always have fun as a group but only one or two venture to the other matches with me. Love your choices of handguns, STI are a favorite with lot of the guys, when the Hawk I think it is came out 7-8 of them scooped them up and a Wilson Combat CQB my holy grail gun, one of these days. I guess this might be hijacking the thread but I've enjoyed this chat, always interesting to see what a fellow gun guy from another part of this great country enjoys shooting and the different types of activities partakes in.

Our MD frequents Front Sight school in Vegas the match I think is their carbine shoot from the last part of the class they took with some hand gun added at the end, weather looking perfect sunny at 70 deg light wind they said 7-50 yds this time, I am constantly asking for 2-3 guns in matches as we all have some that need shooting.
We were sent some BEAR targets by mistake I have purposed we add a bear attack stage soon to a match shot with full house 44 mag ammo and a member offered to furnish it and handgun to anyone needing one, just maybe a 6 round part of a stage shot double action.
From what I gather on info so far it is looking like a double stack day Sat, if so I probably will shoot all 9mm. Also will be easier on ammo being all the same and not lose my 45 brass which I hoard all I can. Do yall ever have night matches? We used to but due to so many no shows they dropped them, I really liked those. Some yrs back I shot a 3 day 500 round one, 2 nights 1 day 200-200-100 (Sunday)
You chose the weapon to shoot at target, most all steel you choose ammo load 200 on person last day 100, run out bye! Light go out and no spare bye! Bring a steak to cook both nights! Walk through in daylight eat and shoot in dark, YOU choose weapon to fire no requirement for ammo each just 200 -200-100 on your person. Solve the problem about only rules, all mags picked up for you walk between yellow safety ribbons see a X meant you got target, NO RUNNING or DQ INSTANTLY no warnings there. Drop a firearm it is gone till match over for that day. Be safe solve problems, mostly all targets steel.
I shot my Para P14 - Rock River AR - FN SLP Shotgun. I finished about in the middle but 3rd with shotgun (the only thing I am still competitive in) Surgeries, old, reflexes and eyes & nerve damage from operations here. But win every match I shoot if enjoyment counts!

I learned fast a 200 round load up of ammo I needed a shoulder strap to my belt especially 5 mags of 230 gr 45 and pistol, carbine and shotgun ammo was carried on front chest, ONLY 2 firearms were shot each day.
Friday pistol carbine
Saturday pistol shotgun
Sunday shotgun carbine
You choose what to carry and ammo loadout just had to shoot all in 3 days.
After 1st day used my web belt with ALICE suspenders and was so much better, 100 rounds of shotgun and 100 556 is a load with 1 gun on sling/body and hold the other. Weapon break and you cant fix it with what you have on you sorry, hope you have enough ammo for the other one.

Roger that on the enjoying every match! My kids, grandkids and shooting these matches keeps me goin! I guess workin still helps too just not as much fun. Not many night matches, Greenville does one New Year's Eve every year, the indoor every other Monday night match has done one, Georgia Mountain Shooting Association added one end of 2019, experienced shooters only, I didn't go, it's just outside Toccoa, little over an hour away, that range kicks my butt in the daytime so passed on the night shoot, they don't call it Georgia Mountain for nothing! I like the bear stage idea, fun to throw in something different. I would probably do a 3 gun in my shootin buddies would give it a shot but those 3 gun guys young and serious! At least I got mag feed Vepr so wouldn't have to deal with "quad" loads or trying to learn how to do it. I like your idea of adding 3rd gun for a stage, maybe 2. Appreciate the emphasis on safety you guys do, probably one of the most valuable things I've learned is total safety at matches, no compromise on that, has given me tons more confidence teaching my boys and girls to shot and passing along the rules of safety. I'm sure that Rock River a nice shooting AR, if I remember right I think they make 1911's, not sure, might be thinking of Double Star. Well it sounds like weather gonna be killer, here Saturday we looking at probably 38-40 start of match, 50-52 as a high and sunny, I can live with that. We held 2019 State IDPA match at my home range in Belton this year, we had massive renovations to our action pistol bays and it's really nice, volunteer staff shot Friday, beautiful day, Saturday started raining about 9, most miserable day ever spent at a match, thank goodness I was just toting bags and carts from stage 10 to stage one, couple hundred yards apart but they finished it, a great match just absolutely miserable!

Hope your 2 gun went well, USPSA kicked my butt again, 3 no shoots on targets just half head showing, rest covered with no shoot target, had light primer strike and forgot to put 2nd round on target plus 2 misses on 25 yard targets, 60 seconds in penalties, 55 out of 74, got to tighten up!

Turned into a carbine only 200 rounds to 50 yds all off hand. I had 6 down my buddy had 4-5 down carbine was 100%, some people's targets looked like a shotgun patterns we did head shots to 25 yds, dropped 2 there by 1/4 ". One entrant had to be shown how to chamber a round! Then forgot 2 times. We shot in the top 2 there, we also had buddy stages with staggering start times for continual fire on targets a 60 round stage each with 6 bad guys with movement, & barricades 40 yds. I could not ask for anything to shoot any better than my little 8" 9mm did, many figure 8 double taps, I had shortest carbine of any most were 16-20". We shot 5-50 yds.
I cant wait until May to repeat it, had a great time and lunch with friends, April is a handgun month possible with a BUG added in it, I am wanting us to have a heavy cal stage with magnums 357 factory & up at our bear targets we got my mistake thrown in, always like something different... I have a 5 screw S&W 44 of dads.

My friend and I shot 400 rounds Saturday $2.50 x 8 boxes = $20 vs $60-$80 for factory ammo all 400 shot perfect quite a savings for good ammo We both shot all 124 gr cast coated, I need to clean it now. Per bore light almost no leading at all on mine. 45 cost would be very similar. Came home with a 2.5 gal bucket of brass and could have got much more. Loading day coming soon, need to restock components after that day or sooner just primers.
1 shooter shot a 6.8 carbine and the 3 of us were the only picking up brass. Hard to believe but true.
Way ahead on brass picked up vs fired.

You mentioned safety:
Saturday it took you to yell move to your partner and him to return with moving before any movement began, the plan was for you to start firing on your 2nd target and about finish before he started on his 2 bad guys, continual cover fire, one had to be firing while the other moved. WHEN BOTH FINISHED THEY BECAME safety officers to check the next group and so on, safety on bolt to rear locked open with safety yellow flag in chamber. All mags and ammo stowed safe. Place weapon on table as mine was to short for rack! Port visible and facing up.

Man that sounds like heck of a match and run extremely safe, what a good idea for shooters to become the SO's then next in return! Don't mind saying little envious of the format, team shooting seems fun and sounds like you guys did very well and the 8" ran great! Also a testament to how good your reloads are and the cost, holy cow! Makes me wish I had started several years back. Our 2 gun are like our pistol matches, just stretched a little, we also have a pcc match on Sundays that uses same stages of our IDPA match the Saturday before, don't get me wrong, still fun but doesn't take it to you guys level and cool working your targets in. I know you certainly are looking forward to the next one! We do have something a little different coming up weekend after next, got a 2 day class with Mike Seeklander, he's current IDPA National champion, he's sponsored by Wilson Combat, should be fun and hope it helps my match performances. It's pretty cool that we have the opportunity to enjoy our firearms not only for self defense but having lots of fun in whatever type match we decide to shoot, good to live in USA!

Thanks and agree with all wish you were closer yrs back we had a match at another close by club that let us use select fire carbines, absolute the most BEST ever. I have got to shoot several of them talk about habit forming wow! Our normal handgun matches of the past we set up rooms and many door ways in McKinney with electric beams activating targets when your body tripped the beams preset to what time you wished then fall, then after we got all that the city closed the range bunch of libs there.
Another thing you may try after the regular stages set up 5 plates at a distance 25-50 yds 1 second off for each 10 off for all 5, no time limit 1 shot each and shooter reset them so all just do 1 time, standing, no time and our distance was where the shade was usually about 35-50 yds, mandatory to have water and be in shade to fire where ever that was. Just different.

Butch, I'd urge you to pull the trigger on reloading. You won't regret it.

I started with a progressive press, a Square Deal B. That's the path I recommend to folks who are thinking about it.

I now have three presses, but if I had been limited by a single stage press when I started, I would have become frustrated. The results that the Square Deal cranked out made me see the value of reloading, as well as the benefits, and it let me see them quickly.

Select fire! Are you kidding methat would be incredible! A shoot house tripping lasers to activate targets, that is such a good idea, shame the libs shut it down, exactly what they would do to our country! Our Anderson match kinda has a shoot house, just walls and doors, no roof, mid July hottest stage on earth, no air flow, kinda fun spring fall and winter but a nightmare in the summer! You know I've never shot a select fire, need to go rent one, see what it's like. What part of the country do you reside? And yeah it would be cool if distance not an issue to go around and visit a match or two from like minded folks. Got IDPA this weekend where our sorta shoot house is, weather supposed to be good, I use my Bul Armory 9mm 1911 for IDPA for esp division or kimber for cdp, goin esp this weekend. I'll pass along the steel plate shooting you suggested, that sounds awesome also. Interesting to hear match ideas from other places!

I am in Texas east of Dallas there used to be more matches than there is now 2 ranges were closed, If I had a traveling partner that would be willing to do it I would shoot more while I can do it. We also fish a lot every week possible, so many clubs here dropped IDPA I really do not know for sure where one is that still does it all due to rules. So much more enjoyable now as I just shoot for fun. Some of the targets in the house we shot were outside not in it and were changed during the match to other windows the same distances away, some complained some were told they could leave. We had a no running DQ rule 1 time your gone some younger shooters tried to run to every shooting position others could not so we stopped it fair to all there.

Oh man that stinks and absolutely you don't have to go to a match to enjoy shooting, we are lucky enough to have our own little range, my oldest son has 12 acres and working for Asphalt contractor when I graded his driveway we cleared out an area in the back, built a big berm, lots of good times there, I have made sure all my kids(3)and their mates have AR's, very cool teaching the girls to shoot! That's wild where you live, I missed being born in Texas by about 2 years, only one in my family that wasn't. Bout 80 miles if I remember from Dallas, 20 miles or so from Weatherford, close to Mineral Wells, spent lots of summers there, my uncle true Texas Brahma bull riding cowboy. My cousin and this is my claim to fame is or was a dentist, lived in Grapevine, don't know if he still is but he was Troy Aikmans dentist, ex Cowboy quarterback. My grandparents had a farm not far from Mineral Wells, lots of fun for a kid, fishing in tanks, always thought that was cool what Texans called ponds, setting trot lines in Brazos River, calling in foxes at night, tons of fun, I haven't been since I was senior in high school but man those were great summers

Gosh been so long since been there, both sets of grandparents pretty close to each other, can't remember name of one of the town's outside Mineral Wells, one was Lipan, uncle lived in Santo, oh well. Yeah stock up man, good shootin weather coming up, been raining here yesterday and today, supposed to clear up Thursday I hope, wettest winter on record these parts. Used to rain Friday thru Sunday but switched to thru the week thank goodness. One other thing I remembered one of the times I was there we went to rodeo in Weatherford and Larry Mahan, he was national champion bare back bronc rider, had one leg in full cast and still rode, full 8 seconds, pretty cool! Well load up lots, let you know how weekend goes

Will do so on week, I am still dreaming of shooting that 9mm carbine again but really looking into next match 3rd Sat March all handguns then the problem of which one!
Good hard dry ground probably a 1911 any mud Glock 17 as to losing brass there, we will never run out of 9's here.
I will say again I never dreamed as much as some shoot here that so few reload as to compared to years back almost all did so that really shot a lot.
In the early 2000's I was shooting 2-3 matches a week, 2 indoor at night and a Saturday somewhere under 2 hrs driving 1 way, the crowds were double of what they are now also back then much older, the 1911 was king! Then all changed.
