I have recently been bitten by the practical shooting bug, with pistols so far. Multigun really looks like fun, so I've been adding the requisite weapons one by one. I have my pistol (G35) and a shotgun (FN SLP) but I still need a rifle, and I'm a lefty.

I was looking for the right AR and wonder what your thoughts are about the Stag 3G. It looks like a very good starting place for a first rifle for this purpose. So can u offer impressions of/experience with this gun and also, since all my other guns are right handed, should I stick with a righty rifle as well, or take advantage of Stags lefty rifles?

I'm left handed and have never bothered shooting a left handed gun. If shotgun shells ejecting from the right side have never bothered you, I don't know why cases flying out the right side of an AR would be any different. With an ambi safety, I don't know why it would matter which side the ejection port sits on.

The stag 3G is a good gun. You might also consider the Loki 3G. Or if you really want to empty your bank account, you can get a JP.

I have been looking at the JP also, nice gun. Definitely pricey! Haven't seen/heard of Loki, will have a look. Thx.

I love my JP, but it's not light. Loki 3G is much lighter.

Jesse can give you a sales pitch on the Stag. Chris Anderson can give you a sales pitch on the Loki. Kurt Miller can give you a sales pitch on the JP. All of them are right and none of them are wrong. They are all 3 great rifles and you can't pick wrong with any of them.

I'm not a lefty so I don't have a clue if it would matter. What I Do know is that a bunch of left hand shooters have told me they love the ejection port of their correct side. In fact Stag Arms pretty much built their company around the idea and last year they produced more AR15's for the commercial market than anyone else. So it's not just a gimmick IMHO.

I am a lefty and have owned several Stags, both left ejecting and right ejecting.

The last AR that I built has a Stag 3GH upper (right ejecting) with ambi safety selectors (I like the BADASS with a large right and small thin left) and a Troy ambi mag release.

The right hand eject makes it real easy to deal with malfunctions since rotating the gun "in" is easier than rolling it "out" - at least for me.

The 3G is an excellent rifle and if I was staying with 5.56, I'd keep mine.

Thanks for all replies!

The more I look around and hear from folks, sounds like Stag is gonna get my business. Still thinking about the left vs. right approach. Perhaps Don's approach with ambi safety and mag release is the way to go. Resale would certainly be easier.

Now I just need to find one.
