I was trying to find box sizing for USPSA so I can make some to use for practicing position transitions, and once again saw the Multigun Rules link. Is there anything happening with making a standard set of rules for 3-Gun? It seems like there was talk about this in 2010/early 2011. Just curious.

the only rule about 3 gun that you can count on is that there will be no standard set of rules.

The first rule of 3 Gun is: you do not talk about 3 Gun. The second rule of 3 Gun is: you DO NOT talk about 3 Gun! Third rule of 3 Gun: someone yells "stop!", goes limp, taps out, that stage is over. Fourth rule: only one person to a stage. Fifth rule: one stage at a time, fellas. Sixth rule: No tank tops, no flip flops. Seventh rule: stages will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at 3 Gun, you have to shoot.

Seriously I am hoping for a updated multi gun rule set for USPSA. If you are looking to build a box to work on entering and leaving just make anything. Its all about being ready to shoot the second your foot hits the ground in the box or position if there is no box. Then being ready to get the hell out of the box the second you call that last shot on the target. That means get the gun up sooner and get your weight on the proper leg to push off for a forceful launch out of the box.

At the Dec. OKCGC match El Prez Phil announce USPSA's upcoming adoption of time-plus scoring, a la IMG, rules. If you would have stayed, you would have heard it! :P

Chris and I shot the MO USPSA Multigun Championship and it utilized this scoring system, which was in "trial" at the time. The match ran like clockwork. Actually it ran better than any major USPSA match I have ever attended, as we shot 8 multigun stages in a day.

Now it doesn't mean every 3 gun match will become USPSA, but it is a step in the right direction!

When you say time plus it was simply time plus penalties and they used 2 on paper or 1 alpha to neutralize?

Pretty much, and each stage got 100 pts. It was essentially IMGA, except w/ the USPSA loading rules...i.e.: no more than 9 rounds in the shotgun at once.

Sweet! I hope they do away with the shotgun capacity rules. Open should be open and tactical should let you load what you want after the buzzer. I hope arkansas multi gun goes this route for 2012. It will be a fast match if they do.

Yep. I think he said MG nats was going to use it...not like anyone's going to be there :)), and I bet that precipitates a lot of change across the board.

This change was just mentioned in the "Inside NROI" section of the new issue of Front Sight. Looks pretty encouraging!
