USPSA @ USSA 3/22

Sure makes a guy think a little before driving 4 hrs round trip from OKC. I hope they get it squared away.

It was rather frustrating after driving two hours to shoot for 18 seconds to drive 2 more hours? Kinda poor management on the part of the people controlling the facilities. The uspsa match is a regular occuring event. Just my 1&1\2 cents worth.

was a regular occurring event....

i didn't even fire a shot

I just called, USSA said they didn't shut down the match, lol.

Wow. I mean, I WAS there....

Again a big misunderstanding?? Who's in charge there? Obviously no one seems to know that answer. I have no plans of spending my money at ussa for the foreseeable future.

they didn't shut the match down they just wanted us to move three stages. After the match had started. screw them.

Huge thanks for Rob, Jerry, and Kelly for all the years of good matches and putting up with the admin bullshit that came with it.

Karen did not know what was going on until some time afterwards. She met with several USPSA shooters and was very concerned with how this situation was handled. She and David will for sure be addressing the situation.
As hard as it for me to get ticked off, I am today. This incident cannot be explained away by a simple misunderstanding plea. The management, as it were, chose to pit the customers in the middle of a situation instead of comming down, in person to evaluate and have a conversation with the ones running the match. Rob, Jerry and Kelly are stand up guys may not address the details in this venue, but someone should be made aware of what went on. Poor management, managers and owners should take full responsibility for the actions displayed today. The situation prior was explained away with "it was just a misunderstanding" Only two or four people actually knew what went down and USSA was cleared because it did not affect many people, yet. Today 37 people were affected, and it will be hard for me to spend any more of my dockets there in the future. Roger D. Davis

Unfortunately it was the first time in a few years I had decided to make the drive to participate. I probably won't be doing it again. I do appreciate all the hard work the match directors put into it.

Please read this post with as much of an open mind as you can. This is not USSAs official answer it is mine. I am the match director for 3 gun at USSA. Today I arrived ( apparently right as this debacle happened). I spoke to several of you at the back of the bays and was very concerned about the events occurring. I went strait to the owner and requested a meeting as to what exactly happened. I was accompanied by Jeff Hughes MD for Proam. This meeting did grow shortly there after with several Shooters from the match, thank you for the input as well, with the level of anger people had Im certain from the events... You were all diplomatic and professional. I know each of you and would have expected nothing but that from you as you always handle yourselves that way... The issue Bays 13 -17 were assigned to the match... Bays 13 and 14 were not used bays 15,16,17,18 and 19 were used... members arrived at 18... My question, at what point was management made aware of empty bays 13 and 14????Rob, Kelly, Jerry can someone tell me this... I was still having a discussion concerning this with Mgt and ownership at 4:30 today and this is the first they seemed to be aware of it, Realizing that I had 11 and 12 reserved that pretty much left only 2 unassigned bays on the back bays. the answer I recieved was that had they known these were open for members there would have been no issue... But without knowing that a match was impacted to the result of 3 of 7 stages being unavailable ... its easy to look back and say what should have been done but before we get the nails and cross out is it possible no one told them they changed the bays???

It seems no one know anything there about anything that's going on. This is the second issue in 4 months. Its either they don't know where the targets are they don't know what bays are open or they "don't want to be involved the that organization that Phil Strader is connected to" what you have is an owner that has a company that is poorly managed I will never step foot on ussa again.

I wasn't there, so I have even less of a clue than everyone else, but it seems like saying **** IT SHUT IT DOWN without even talking to the match director first was a little heavy-handed.

Isn't 3 Gun held at OKCGC on the same day? Hhmmmm, I'm a member out there. I think I will support my club instead of driving for four hours. Tulsa was fun, oh well.

I was not there so I don't have a dog in this fight but I think the paid range staff should know what bays the March is set up on and what bays are open for members. That is why they are staff. We as match directors volunteer our time and effort to put these matches on and make money for the range I think that gets forgot from the paid staff sometimes

Did ussa shut it down? Or did the MD say **** you I'm not moving the stage(s)?

Another frustrated shooter that made the drive from OKC to USSA to shoot a normally well run and enjoyable match. From my point of view there was two guys that wanted to shoot and were assigned a range to shoot on and unfortunately we were already there. It seems to me that whoever is in charge of the ranges (range master?) should have come down to check on the situation himself instead of sending the bay workers down and put them in the middle of this situation. Had he come down to the situation it would have been painfully obvious as he passed MANY other unoccupied bays on his way down he could have put these guys in. Easy fix, everybody would have been happy. In my opinion the range master is the one at fault and perhaps he should do something else for a living as it is obviously below him to personally check on a major situation like this.

I blame 3-Gun. Just kidding. But in all seriousness, this wouldnt happen to a 3-Gun match.

Jerry, Rob, and Kelly were too upset to discuss this with the USSA goons today.
I sat in on the meeting with Karen. She seemed receptive to our concerns regarding the future of competition at USSA.

It doesnt really matter who knew what bays were being used and when. The stages were set up the day before, its not like anybody snuck in at the last minute and took a bay away from the plinking members. 2 volunteers set up that whole match, with no cooperation, let alone help.

The problem is that no one from the range staff or management knew anything about what was going on at their range just a few hundred yards away from their door. They also made no effort to find out. They made no effort to solve an easy problem. There is a lack of cooperative spirit there.

This just highlights the actual problem at USSA. They simply have a culture of disdain and disregard for competitions other than the 3-gun game show.

It remains to be seen if the new ownership tries to get ahead of this situation and change the fundamental mindset.

I'm still wanting to know who at USSA said fk it shut it down??? Dave Saye, Les Dunn , Karen,Jade???? Who ??? I talked to everyone at USSA ( defined as those who are employees of USSA and receive a paycheck from USSA). Either they all lied to my face or it wasn't said??? Please come forward with your name and who it was at USSA that told you this ??? And not this I heard this from so and so BS ... come on we are waiting . Please name names . Shooters were wronged at this match and Im highly pissed about that, but everyone seems to want to blame USSA... fine who said it... Easy to blame the entire range ... who said it. i want answers, I asked USSA and got plenty of them but none involved fk it cancel the match. Come on shooters we are all very vocal, Ive got the nails give me a name ;)

I would have to think someone said shut it down. I doubt 2 guys walked out to use the bay and everyone freaked out and left the match. It's sad to see the hard work of the guys who put this match on go to waste.
